Ok I've bout the IDJ3 got it set up and from the outside it looks and feels great but the more I play around with it the more Im seeing I guess the word to use is problems, my question is
A) Is the IDJ3 a viable option for Learning to DJ (IE Scratching, Beat juggling, mixing)
B) is this deck configurable to the point where the jog wheels will act more like the real thing
C) If the IDJ3 isnt a sufficient learning tool then what is?
keep in mind we're in a recession and while I'm not poor I'm cheap as hell and don't want to buy something just because it has a popular name I need good beginner hardware

The IDJ3 is a good unit, you can learn to mix properly with it. Beat juggling is possible. Scratching is limited, but possible. If you truly want to be a scratch artist you would need good turntables but basic scratches can be done. There are settings within the config that allow you to adjust the sensitivity of the jog wheels and also adjust the latency. I don't scratch so I've never bothered to adjust for it.
hope this is helpful, good luck.

Thanks that does help, and your right the IDJ3 is awesome for mixing but I addicted now and i need more lol so scratching is my next mountain to climb. You said there is a way to calibrate or modify the controls , where would I go to find more on that?

I would first try the manufacturer's website, possibly email their "support" team. I am sure someone else in the forum has made adjustments to their mixtrack pro, which is basically the controller that you have. It was a VERY popular model. Some guys I've heard of using these for pro gigs..... Learning to scratch, you need nice large platters, like real records. Your controller has these. You should be set for a good while with your setup. I also believe that there are some software settings in the VDJ-config section on the software that allows to adjust some of the scratching sensitivity.......I am sure someone else will have more info than me though.......

you need to upgrade to "VDJ Pro Full" to be able to get the registry editor tool to change the scratch latency which will make scratching much more responsive. Also a warning not to rape the crossfader when scratching, it will not stand up to much abuse and is not designed to be replaceable. You are better off upgrading the controller to a Reloop Terminal 2/4mix as they have better, lighter platters and a crossfader that is built for scratching.
