Topic: two pcs to rmx

Is there a way to connect two laptops to the hercules rmx?
One pc for music and the other for karaoke.

....With a switch, two conputers one usb component... A printer switch may do the trick..

Which program are you using for karaoke?

my question... Why? VDJ plays Karaoke perfectly
 
I'm afraid in my opinion and a lot of other KJ's users it doesn't it's very basic, I'm really hoping as are a lot of others we will get a much better improved plugin.

I've already wished for and suggested that if we do get an update to the Karaoke plugin that the dev team should have a look at the Karma Karaoke software for inspiration, but to be honest they shouldn't need to as we have now on board the guy that developed another fantastic Karaoke plugin for a competitor. This is what I hope any new development will bring.

In the meantime I will keep taking my second laptop to run Karma at my Karaoke nights.

As for Bogarts question, have you tried running it into the second decks input of the rmx, not how much if any distortion to your Karaoke audio output/input, personally I run from second laptop to a multichannel mixer.

For the video output I run vga to a seperate single monitor for the singer, leaving the rest of the venues screens free to run music vids, adverts and video drops direct from vdj on the main gig lappy.
 
I will be using VDJ on both pcs.
One set up for music (2 external drives).
The second pc for karaoke with one external drive.
I want to operate each one separately, if possible.

Connect the audio output of your Karaoke Laptop to either source 1 or source 2 inputs of your RMX and press source 1 or 2 depending on where you connected it to play your Karaoke song.
 
Another way to do it is... run your karaoke files from AutoMix playlist and set Automix type to None (Back To Back) when running your karaoke tracks, then switch back to Smart thereafter, this way you can also have intermission track already setup on your playlist rotation...

The way I do it is to make deck B the main to run the show and deck A so I can spin any song or video if needed while running the show..

I've requested many times to VDJ team to add a second playlist to allow you to preload tracks for special events or karaoke, singers backing track or drops and assign that list to an open deck giving you more control and more possibilities...

i was thinking, two way splitter... plug a usb into each machine...use 4 deck skins... remap the unit to a 4 deck switchable controller and use decks 1&2 on one laptop and decks 3-4 on the other

unless there is a way to use 2 deck skins and set the deck numbers to 1&2 on one machine and 3&4 on the other..

just a thought..
 
You can't simultaneously connect two computers to the same USB MIDI controller. This would only be possible if the controller was designed to work this way and had two USB connections (No controllers like this currently exist.)

The nearest you could get to this is to purchase a controller with a real hardware mixer (E.g: Denon MC6000) that you connect directly to your first computer. Then use your RMX on the second computer and plug it into a spare channel (3/4) of the MC6000 set to analogue line in. You could also run the RMX in external mixer mode, so you do all your audio mixing from the MC6000, and just use the RMX to control song playback.

I think I will just use a mixer instead of controller.
I can connect the one laptop with sound card to a channel,
and the second laptop to another channel.
 
I seen a plugin that enables an additional windows screen iin my laptop while my videos are being played through my Nvidia card in extended monitor screen, maybe that would be the ultimate solution..

Can anyone do this as a pluging or something to enable an additional windows screen to send or drag to a second monitor to display other content.?
 
You can always use a VNC program to see/control a second PC and it's monitor(s) via LAN if that's what you wish to do. There are some very good (and very fast) FREE VNC servers/clients out there ;)
 
Yes that's if your working with two computers like for a tech, .....but a more practicle way for what a DJ's needs would be to activate that second window screen which we already have and use it to dock a menu or browser screen, effects program, ect or send a singers lyric screen to that window and drag it to a singers monitor while the main screen is displaying videos, advertisements, events, menu specials or scores for the Karaoke competition....more professional possibilities..
 
Actually Joey you can do what your suggesting already with Firetext, I've made many four window templates for guys shows and it works well on screen, unfortunately I don't think it's possible with the new free version though.
 
You mean, you can focus deck B to output to an indapendent window and drag that window to another monitor screen.?
