Topic: CDJ 850s and VDJ?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Just purchased the Pioneer CDJ 850s and can't wait for them to arrive. I hear they're HID compatible with VDJ. What exactly does this mean and what functionality will it give me?

How easy is setup?

Surprised when i clicked search that nothing else popped up in the forum. Is nobody else using these?

Better to search in the Hardware forum!

Surely it's better to do all your research before purchasing though?

Previous posting regarding these decks is here

To be honest, i mainly use Traktor for DJing and so will be using them with that. I just use VDJ for Karaoke gigs and would like to hook them up to the cdjs for that.

When using the search box typing "cdj 850" nothing comes up at all in the forum.

use google to search, the forum one is terrible

I think I remember reading that you need to update the drivers to get the needle position screen to work at the same rate as the software. If memory serves me correctly one uses frames, the other uses milliseconds... but they were manufactured recently the drivers may already be loaded..

Other than that I haven't read anything, so it should be plug and play... although as always if the decks are reversed hit eject to re initiate and invert them.

Yeah the only thing I noticed that was off on the CDJ-850 when used with Virtual DJ was the track position indicator movement on the CDJ was a little choppy, It was accurate but it just didn't rotate smoothly. I didn't bother me but for some reason it bothered others. I read that it was fixed but I cannot confirm since I sold the 850s before the fix was released. But trust me, I didnt think the indicator issue was a big deal, everything else worked flawless.

What was the scratching sound like compared to using cds or timecode? That's been the major issue with me since i moved to using midi controllers. It's just never sounded as good and fat.

change the "default scratch latency" to 1020 or lower with the registry tool for a better scratch response mine is at 860, the sound is probably down to the soundcard and having master tempo on while scratching. you can map you jog touch to this to automate the process when scratching if you use master tempo all the time

vinyl_mode 1 ? down ? master_tempo 0 & touchwheel_touch 1 : master_tempo 1 & touchwheel_touch 0 : touchwheel_touch

So using the inbuilt soundcards in the Pio's what does the scratching sound like compared to timecode with the Audio A6?

never used 850's sorry... the audio 8 sounds good though, it's not as good as freshly pressed wax but it's better than my worn scratch records. I'd imagine the audio 6 is the same sounding. Although I had issues with the newer NI drivers so kept rolling back until I had a stable one.

Got the gear today and i'm impressed although theres still big room for improvement. The "vinyl" spinner in the middle of the platter is still very stuttery along with the time elapsed. The scratch sound is still very digital sounding although better than Traktor Pro. Also when scratching the beat sometimes moves fractionally rather than being in perfect sync with hand movements.

Hi. Instead of changing the "default scratch latency" with the registry tool, try to change "MotorScratchSmooth".
Default value is 75, try to set this to 0. (If this does not work good for you try a balanced value like 25-50).
This makes a huge difference and a much tighter scratch response with the cdj-900. I believe it works the same with the 850's
Let me know.

I'm on a mac. How do i do this?

Thanks for the help guys. Going to try this tonight.

So, i tried it all out. Changed the scratch settings and i must say the scratch quality was alot better.

I gig'd the 850s with direct usb HID capability for 6hrs last night and apart from the last hour it was spot on.

For some reason though - one hour to go after a loo break the right deck suddenly became around 4% faster than the left deck. To perfectly match the beats together if the right deck was on 130bpm - the right deck would need to be on 123bpm to be matched????

Nothing was touched whilst i was at the toilet and i didn't change anything.

Any ideas? and how to fix in future if it happens again?

try reinitiating the controllers by pressing eject, or doing it in the mapper window of config

I'm sure i tried eject and it did nothing.

Anyone else? I can't afford this to happen again?
