I recorded a 6.5 hour mix as a .wav file. it's 3.7 gig in size. I tried playing the file in Windows Media Player and iTunes...neither one detects it.
VLC Media Player is the only software able to play it.
when i try to go and convert it to an mp3...every converter I try doesn't even detect the wav file.
Does it have to do with the length and/or size of the file or is it a codec issue. the codec of the file is PCM S16 LE (araw). for the record, i have no clue what any of this means lol.
basically...i need to convert this file to an mp3 and chop it up into 4 equal parts...but not one wav converter, mp3 converter, or mp3 splitter that i've tried so far will detect it.
VLC seems to be the only thing that recognizes that this file is alive.
help. please. thanks in advance. :)

Since you're gonna chop it up, use Audacity.
Make sure the FILE is named witht he extension .wav then load it in Audacity, chop away and save each as MP3.
That should work for you.
If not, and VDJ, WMP, Winamp, Mediamonkey etc... does not play it but VLC does, worse comes to worse, play it VLC and re-record it using Wondershare or your LINE OUT/IN of the sound card (you can use Audacity to record).
You could try installing the newest KLITE codec if you think it might be a codec issue first.
Good luck.

Is your hard drive formatted as FAT32 or NTFS? I know that FAT 32 has a 4GB max file limit so I wonder if that's got something to do with your problems. Your file is under that limit so it should be fine, but it might have something to do with it.
Maybe you could try loading on a computer that is formated to NTFS or put your file on a memory stick that is formatted that way and see if that helps. No idea if it would really or not.
