I really need some help, my mac book pro just became unavailable to me and i have a gig tonight vid mixin and the only laptop I have available to me is a HP pavilion dm4 which has crashed on me when I have tried using it in the past. I was wondering if anyone knows a setting(s) that can be change or added so I can get through this night with minimal to no problems.. any advice is welcome

I would start with tweaking the laptop, there is a guide on the forum. I would also post the specs of the lappy & the OS here so members will know what your are working with.

ok thanks alot guys im gonna get the specs and post em up here I just know that when it did crash before it would tell me nvidia graphics card failed..

You must try to re-install the graphics drivers and if they still do not work then you need computer support to resolve the problem. If you are getting error message regarding nvidia graphics card failed , then it may be the problem of hardware.

was most liklei that the driver failed. I advise you to upgrade the drivers totally,eg,not to install over the old,so download the new driver first,uninstall the old,reboot,install the new.

on top of this, get rid of all transparency, effects, aero fx etc from windows. turn them all off, turn off system sounds and anything else you dont need to stop your cpu and gpu being over laden. turning off all gfx fx in windows alone will give your video card a bit of a boost.
