Topic: Bad distortion with VMS2

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Was doing a gig tonight with my 2 week old ADJ VMS2 and VDJ 7 Pro Full. 2 hours into the set someone mentioned the sound to be very distorted. I didn't hear it at first but noticed it in my cans. Thought I somehow blew up my headphones. Then I heard it in the mids and highs form the mains. The father the night went on the worse it sounded. I was run usb into the VMS2. I hooked up my phone to the analog inputs and it sounded fine. Hooked from the headphone out on the laptop to the main amp in and it sounded fine. Only the USB connection and digital sound card sounds very distorted in mains and headphones after a couple hours play. They sound fine at start up. Anyone else experienced this type of problem and found a solution??

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

Make sure you have the latest version.

Are you using usb3 ports? if so, don't.

Other than that you have to do all the tweaks recommended, I had this too recently but is all fixed now.

Got the latest version of VDJ. Not Using USB3 ports. WIFI off. Set up the system at home and loaded up a bunch of songs in automix and ran it for 7 hours straight whilet I slept. After 7 hours everything sounds good today. Think I'll pick up a Mixtrack Pro to haul along as a back up. Any other tweaks I might check to be sure? Thanks for the thoughts.

Make sure your virus checker or defrag hasnt started up a task in the background. Check msconfig to disable any startup programs loading up that you dont need. Could your computer possibly be overheating after awhile?

Thanks for all the quick help. The sound card in the VMS2 was determined defective by a tech at music store. It did same thing for him on a different 'known good' computer setup. He made an underbreath comment of 'that's American Audio for ya'. I ended up with a Vestax Typhoon. I'm not impressed with the cosmetics but it seems to work fairly well. It's fairly basic and seems to be missing a few buttons and knobs that I used on the VMS2. Like a mix control for cue and mix. But I'll give it a spin. Got til Jan. 31 to return if I don't like it! Thanks again!

I was gonna add that to my list - check device (Especially with it been from American Audio)

Are you saying you cant cue the headphones on typhoon

I love my new vms2. It is no problem with the soundcard this time around. You have to remember that although it is a midi controller, it is still a anolog mixer, so you can not turn the mixer up past the peak level like any other anolog mixer. If you like to slam your volume fader all the way up and down when mixing, you want your gain know to be at 11:00 not on 12.

Also if you have your auto gain seting in vdj set to auto, you want to change it to disabled. You can only do one or the other with a anolog mixer. Having both the volume fader and the gain controll all the way up, will always give you a distortion on any anolog mixer.

I personaly like the auto gain enabled in vdj, so I remapped my gain controll knobs to other things.

I had the impression that the VMS2 is a real analogue mixer like the big brother (VMS4). That means that the gain knobs are hardware gain knobs. So if you assign them as eg..slider 1 of an effect, dont you adjust the hardware gain at the same time ? Doesnt it affect the output sound ?
At least that is what happens to VMS4. Has this been changed in the little brother ?
