I do have timecode but since having it, I find it really unpractical and I can see why people use CDJs.
- Has too many bugs
- It's sensitive to the bass, which disturbs the needles and makes the songs wobbly.
- It's hard to beat match quickly (if your crap like me) or will I be able to match faster in future? I don't know.
I don't see why I try and be original when there's cue and looping tools in front of me. I also don't understand why I feel as though I'm crap one minute, and then decent the next.

hey dickie,
in this thread everyone warned you to stay with midi, until you can afford good turntables, the ones you have are an afterthought from the company when they were produced.
http://fr.virtualdj.com/forums/155585/General_Discussion/General_questions_about_timecode_vinyl___%29.html
-The bugs can be fixed,
-bass from household speakers should not affect the needle, if they are you should turn em down or you will get noise pollution fines LOL, or seperate the table from the speakers so they wont vibate.
-beatmatching is a skill, skills take time to master. The reason you feel like that is you are learning and its frustrating when things don't go as hoped and amazing when you get it right. you will get faster in the future, you will never be as fast as sync... I can match anything on tables in under 32 beats, it is all about training yourself to hear the difference between the records and automatically correct what you hear. But again those tables are horrible...
I'd sell the gear and get a contoller for now... if you get a reloop jockey 2, I will give you an insane mapping for it, or if you get something else i'll help you set it up, because I feel partly responsible for your decision..

I do have most of it solved now mate, the only snag I have now is the PC CPU.
I have a Dell Dimension 3100c with 3Ghz Processor, 1GB RAM etc. And when I load a track it starts skipping and going glitchy, it's actually ruined my mixes and messed the recordings up. =(
Is there anyway I could manage my CPU/processor to stop running up to 100% usage? Or should I upgrade another 1GB of ram? I just don't know what to do.

definately upgrade the ram, that is a must, I can run vdj on a 1.66ghz 10inch eeepc netbook running win 7 32bit because it has 2gb DDR3 ram, but you also need to strip away the unused programs that windows has,
press --> alt + ctrl + delete -->task manager -->processes (then disable things you don't need to run vdj)
go into -->control pannel --> system and security -->power options --> set max performance -->go into advanced for some extra tweeks
-set the power focus on "background services" it sounds weird but that is your media, soundcard etc...
-set the hard drive, usb port to never hybernate,
-set everything to maximum
or apparently you can use game booster i think it's called, but have never used it before. google it
read through this thread it will have lots of usefull information, havn't read it in a while

This is a prime example of how and why vdj has a bad rap........... Kids like this come along with crappy tables, under powered laptops, weak sound cards and have been warned over and over that they should probably upgrade there gear. Do they listen, NO!! Then they come back here saying how shitty it is and I'm sure they've told there friends as well. It really gets on my nerves after awhile.........
I wouldn't even bother with it cause its obvious your not serious, cause if you were you would have taken some advice and tried to upgrade instead of trying to go the cheap route........
Good Luck

Some people just have to learn the hard way.
Number 1.
At least make sure your laptop meets the minimum required spec, upgrade the ram.

Yeah, I think I'm going for more RAM, I played with the performance settings this afternoon, it's a bit better but I'm sure the RAM will fix everything once and for all. Had a nice mix this afternoon. =) I'm basically using this PC purely for PC DJing anyway. the processor unit only has like 5 things running in it, I turned all the windows features and effects off as soon as got it. So it's not so bad. =)
So you think I'm not serious? Okay that's your opinion but is not true at all. I don't use a laptop anymore, that's why I've just bought a temporary PC Tower. -_- I think it's ridiculous how some of you assume I'm going to pick the cheap route and use it for event purposes (are you joking?) I'm buying a better PC after a while for a start. I knew I was right to hesitate posting this, in fear of judgment. I was only labeling the snags, the pitch doesn't fluctuate anymore because I've turned it off so that I can do it manually. I was only asking what your opinions was? Do you think I regret buying this equipment? No I don't, I think it's amazing if I'm honest. Gives me hands on experience, and you're talking about warning me, this and that but come on a lot of us do it, everybody learns from their mistakes.
If anything, upgrading my equipment is exactly what I'm doing!?
This a picture of my set up NOW:

1. What are these bugs? Just saying it has to many bugs is a pretty vague statement ........
2. I've never had the bass skip my needle, people jumping on a stage, yes but bass, NEVER........... this has nothing to do with the software and more with how or what your setup is on............
3. You have start by LEARNING your music and a little music theory wouldn't hurt. Learn how a song is put together. Music is repetitive and if you learn basic song structure it'll help you greatly............and its a little harder on a cdj cause you can't slow down the platter like you can with a turntable ...........
4. Are you still using those cheap Behringer sound cards??
5. Is your tower at least a dual core or is it a Pentium 4??

1. I was making a list of all the problems I noticed from the start but I've had it pretty much perfect ever since I've changed computers.
2. I'm almost certain it had something to do with the bass, it only happened once to be fair. I have X2 12 subwoofers in a 30hz box underneath the DJ table which is partly my fault. And that one time I did have it up really loud. My needles aren't exactly on the vinyls/seratos perfectly. What made me think it was this is because it only wobbled to the kick/bass, only ever so slightly.
3. I enjoyed myself this afternoon, I can do it much better if I put the sliders back to 0% and work to the other track, instead of leaving it up confusing myself with what speed it would be at otherwise.
4. I'm using those sound cards, but I haven't had any problems with them for about 3 weeks now. =)
5. It's a Pentium 4 HT (approx 3Ghz or so) Along with 1GB or RAM which has another RAM slot free.

I don't know if it's worth it or not, I have some new STR8150's that I've never used, I'm thinking of getting a coffin case and a TTM57SL and having this system for when I DJ in bars playing music I like.
The weight puts me off, one thing for sure though I'm not going back to having turntables and mixer all separate from each other.
Anyone on here got a system like that?

I used to have everything in a coffin for those gigs that I was by myself. It was great being able to move everything by myself but after I hurt my back at work I switched over to a case for each table and my mixer. It kinda sucks because now I have to hook everything up everytime I setup where as with the coffin I just left it all hooked up, only needed to plugin the power and usb cables for my mixer and soundcard. Downside was the size, even with the tables battle style. Luckily I drive an Excursion, lol!! If I were starting over I don't know what I'd go with... They both have pros and cons.

Do you think I should buy a flight case?
My bro has been trying to get me to go to a practice room where there's PA speakers. But I'm not unhooking it all just for the sake of moving it for a day in a room.
Check out my first vinyl mix on those decks by watching the link below to view my video on my channel : =)

I use a coffin case, and I love it!
It's just so convenient to have my source kit (two Denons and an A&H) all wired up and ready to go.
Roll up, plug in one mains cable and my audio outputs. then off we go!
The weight doesn't bother me, as it has little wheels on one end, and a handle which I can use to carry it over anywhere
that's too rough. It's heavy but not overly so.
I've "been there, done that" with various other setups over the years, and this is the one I've stuck with for the longest.
Dickie, don't buy any cases until you're SURE you'll be keeping the gear that you're using.

Timecode is fantastic if you're using it on a decent enough system to handle the data. I had Serato and an SL1 box using it with a macbook and cdj1000s from 06-2010 and it was a fantastic move from using cds and vinyl which i had used long before that.
Timecode is mainly for DJs who still want to be able to mix live themselves but need access to a big library to keep up with todays demanding customers.
