Topic: What made you want to be a DJ?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Who? What? When? Why? Inspired you to be a DJ?

As for me, I couldn't dance and got tired of being stuck on the wall! Plus, I've always admired the work of the DJ's in NY! I been to the parties rocked by legends such as Grand master flash, Red Alert, Jazzy Jay, Hollywood, etc. So I got to see first hand masters at work and that just fueled me to be the one rocking parties, clubs, etc.

We all have a reason, what is yours???

there were a couple of clubs where I lived when I was 17-20 but none of them played the music I liked, so i rectified that by introducing it to the area after honing my skills at home. well that and chicks dig dj's LOL, but then It became an obsession to get everyone moving and still is today..

For me it's "For The Love Of Music".

I started as musician in 1989. Moved to Canada in 2003, started buying gear for live band in 2004 only to find out there's less gigs on this field. So when I decided to start my own business, I launched it as DJ & Live Music. Still doing it the same way now but honestly only 15 to 20 % of my clients prefer to hire a live band on their event. So the "used to be" secondary choice to be a DJ, is what I did more and more, and I eventually loved doing it better than playing live.

As a good sign of progress, I will be operating as multi-op next year (2 systems).

Cheers!

I was too shy to dance when I was a kid but I didn't just want to stand there looking at everybody else having fun but what really sealed the deal for me was when I was 12 my uncle took me to an underground party, he was hired to set up the system for other big shot Djs who played on the radio here in Los Angeles at the time. I just remember the DJ turning on the 1200s and I was soo mesmerized by the 1200s being turned on, I remember he turned the knob on first and then he pushed on the pop up lights....I was like wow, cool lights!!! and then I seen him work those turn tables all night, that night the DJ went home with a hot chick who practically stripped naked for him and pulled him out to the dance floor LOL I was like wow, I want to be that guy!! That left a great impression on a 12 year old kid! LOL

Prior to this, music was not a big deal in my life. It never made a difference to me what so ever.

First semester in college... Went to a friends house where I was offered some weed. I really hadn't smoked at all at that point so I begin to gradually hit it. After half an hour or so of being baked, I was taken to the next room where I was enlightened to see some equipment I had never seen before. They call them, Turntables. It was when my friend did that first transition that it hit me. Everything made sense when it came to why "music was a life changing motivator" .... No second thoughts, no prior knowledge of what a mixer was or what it did, nope, none of that. I just decided right then and there that this was something that I was going to be eager to learn. From that point on, I began hitting the clubs to check out what was out there and soon came to the self realization that I didn't have a problem being the one dancing but in my standards that wasn't acceptable. I HAD TO BE the one putting YOU TO dance.
From that point on --> Investment

(yeah chicks love Djs :D)

(fast foward 3 years later, I dj on the streets for food , lol jk)

But that day at my friends place was the day that changed everything.
