Hey guys
I am new to djing so i have one big question that has been bugging me. The thing is, i play one track but then i want to have like an empty space where only the beat is playing or something like, so that i can introduce a new track on top of that one. The thing is, i was hoping that VDJ would have like an option where i could have a continuos beat track playing below all the tracks, that i could stop/play freely. Any chance you guys could help me out? Cuz i'm finding it hard o make mixes and stuff if i cant get past this xD. And also, how could i start building up lifting up the pitch like they do in the nightclubs b4 introducing the chorus of a new track? I've searched the forum but couldn't quite findthe help i needed +.+

I hope i was clear enough in all this +.+

Cheers

You mean like a transition "track beat" that would sync to the active track..?

If yes, then you'll need to load it on the "B" deck, sync it to Deck "A" and use it then load deck "A" with a new track and sync that too deck "B" then transition back...

That's just a simple way of doing it...doing it from the effects channel won't sync the deck....but if it could, you would have other possibilities...

Some one else will chime in with another idea, I'm sure....

Good Luck,

Joey...

Use the 4 deck skin and have a couple of beat tracks on decks 3&4. That way you reserve decks 1&2 for your main dance songs. Easy !

Take your beat track which is pretty much a loop and change your BPM up or down to transition into the next song. Hopefully someday VDJ will have a utility where you can type in your target BPM and then automatically let it go up or down to the desired BPM. And adding a "rate" of transition control would be nice also.

Thanks a lot guys, that's what i first thought of, but i thought there could be an alternative. Also, how could i make one of those things where the dj has a track with the beat an the he starts pushing the frequency of the beat up without modifing the BPM so tthat he builds it up to introduce the new dance track?

And also, where could i get a beat track? I know I could make my own and stuff, but i'm kinda unsure if i'd be using a nice one, so i was hoping i could some opinions of a cool one.

Oh boy, you really are a beginner!

Best thing to do is find a nice beat that you really like on one of your tunes, and use the sampler to record it as a loop.

Save it as a sample, then you can always have it loaded ready to play over/under any other tracks.

Sample a whole bunch and load them into all the sample slots.

This is assuming that your VDJ version has enough sampler functionality...

You can also find drum loops online - just Google.

Lol, i know I am xD. well, about the samples:

1st - if i use a sking which allows me to control samples then i cant use a sking which allows me to change the assigned effects to each of the mixing table effects buttons, so should i just use the samples as tracks and loop them or...

2nd - can i make a sample match the BPM os the track?

If you record the sample from a track that's loaded onto a deck, then that sample will have 'beat grid' information, so should then sync with whatever other track is playing on a deck.

It won't have CBG info if you just download a loop from a website somewhere (other than here) and load it straight to a sample slot.

It needs to go onto a deck first to be analysed.

When you talk about loading 'skings' (they're skins), do you just mean the sample page vs the effects page? If so, that's normal.

You can still play the samples, even when you're on the effects page. I suggest you read the manual!

Yeah, i meant skins, idk why i started typing in skings all of a sudden, lolz. And i know i can play samples when i'm on the effects page, but my question is: if i use the skin which is the default for hercules control steel, i can assign 12 different effects to the effects buttons of my table. My problem is that, if I am using any other skin, one which allows me to control samples (since the default for control steel doesn't) i can't change the assigned effects. is there any way to go around this?
Also, i was trying to find out how to make that effect where you loop the beat over and over to build up but you start to push the frequency up (like pitch bend +, but without changing the bpms), cuold you help me out with that?

Cheers
