no midi, id say the xone 22 has it easily beat, but still not sure why pioneer insists on focusing on cdj's and analog mixers and only makes sub standard midi controllers, they have a reputation which means they can charge what they like to up the quality, it's a shame they invested so much into the 2000 series, it is really holding them back as a company as they must not want to make anything that competes with it to hold back sales. Even though im not in favor of their new controller I hope it opens up their eyes to the future.

Perfect little mixer if that's all you need, I agree midi is missing but the price point is a welcome change from Pioneer.

Its marketing. They make equipment for all levels and budgets. There are djs that will only use tech 12s and nothing else.
The reason they are doing this, is for those who are on a small budget, get them hooked and hopefully they will join the cult.
Pioneer has a following, just like Numark or Serato...

Small budget?! £250 for a two channel mixer?
I think those on a budget will choose one of the dozens of other 2ch mixers out there for around half the price.

I myself is using the Allen & Heath Xone : 22. I just received an email today about this new Pioneer mixer and due to the fact I know some Virtual Dj members are the fanboy of pioneer boasting about Pioneer being the industry standard lol; i decided to ask what you guys think of It. I am very pleased and satisfied with my little Xone : 22 mixer I might add.

I have to say that I reckon it looks fantastic. When have you ever been able to buy anything pioneer for £250?!?!? (apart from headphones perhaps!)
I'm not particularly loyal to any brand, but if the sound quality is decent (and it should be the same as the djm900 if the blurb is to be believed) then I'd have this over the xone 22 simply because this has 2 filters so you can get a bit more creative in performance!
If I'm perfectly honest I really want an Allen & Heath DB4, but this pioneer is a little closer to my potential budget!

I would love to be able to afford the Allen & Heath DB4. This piece of gear is peer work of art In quality and sound. lol
I think Pioneer is finally realizing If Allen & Heath created the Zone : 22 to compete in the small budget market segment they should too to cash In on this segment which was for so long ignored specially with the way world economy is heading.
I see a great deal of copy and paste from the Allen & Heath Xone : 22 mixer. The only thing extra they offered is the independent channel filter FX. I am not sure about the sound on the DJM-250 yet, but the Xone : 22 surely sounds good for a low budget mixer.
As far as I am concerned those companies including Allen & Heath should include MIDI capabilities in those small budget mixers too.
