Hello. Just wondering if anyone could lend some advice on an issue i'm having.
I use VDJ for gigs.
I have a song (320kbps mp3) and want to edit out a section of it so it plays better live, which means having to re-encode it.
To prepare the songs i want to play live i run them through Platinum Notes.
For people who haven't heard of it, it's a great tool for normalizing your tracks but it also re-encodes the file, from mp3 to wav.
My question is, if i do the edits on the song, then export the 320kbps mp3 file to the same settings, and then run it through Platinum Notes, re-encoding it again from mp3 to wav, will the loss of quality be noticable on a club system?
I haven't got a gig for 2 weeks so it gives me a lot of time to edit and prepare more work, but don't want to waste time if the final edits i've made won't sound good.
Any advice would be very appreciated.

There is no quality loss when converting mp3 to wav. The file just gets bigger. It doesn't make sense.
You can edit your mp3's directly in Sony Sound Forge. Yes, the files will be re-encoded but most likely you will not notice any quality loss.
Here is another program that I use just for normalizing mp3's without re-encoding: http://www.mptrim.com/
Also, even if you don't normalize your files, VDJ will adjust the gain in real time during playback.

Please note that if you are using Home FREE for gigs, then this is not permitted if you are being paid. VirtualDJ Home FREE is for non-commercial use only. For paid gigs, you will need to purchase a VirtualDJ product: http://www.virtualdj.com/products/comparison.html
