So am I able to use a controller like this http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-BCD3000-DJ-Mixer/dp/B000P5PL6S/ref=sr_1_7?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1313083634&sr=1-7
and not need this? http://www.amazon.com/Numark-DJ-Multi-Channel-Interface/dp/B000S5Q2EK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1313083407&sr=8-3
Or do I need that multi channel numark thing no matter what controller i get? I'm just starting out. What exactly does the numark thing do?
Thank you very much

And I will be just practicing with my pc, which i have been able to monitor using headphones and play out my stereo. The numark thing is just for people with laptops pretty much right?

It has its own built-in sound card, so you would not need an additional external sound card to use it.
However, we would not recommend the BCD3000 because due to poor design of the hardware, many users have problems with the sound card in the BCD series of controllers.
A better choice would be the Numark MixTrack Pro or Hercules DJ Console MK4, RMX, 4Set or 4-Mx. All of these have built-in sound cards and come with VirtualDJ LE included, which can be upgraded to the full Pro at a discount (50% in the case of MixTrack Pro, RMX or 4-Mx.)
NOTE: If you do get the BCD3000 or another controller that does not include VirtualDJ LE, then you will need to purchase the full VirtualDJ Professional to use it: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html
The DJIO is for mouse/keyboard users and/or use with controllers that do not have their own built-in DJ sound card, e.g: Hercules MP3e2.

So even if my computer has a soundcard built in, I have the black and green sound outputs, I would still need the DJIO for MP3E2?

If that is the case, what about this one: http://www.amazon.com/Numark-MIXTRACK-DJ-Software-Controller/dp/B003UVASTO/ref=pd_luc_top_sim_02_02_t_lh
I'm debating between that and the Hercules MK4

MixTrack is a popular option and used by many VirtualDJ. However, you would be better purchasing the MixTrack PRO model - This has a DJ sound card built-in, so you have everything in one neat package.
If you use a desktop PC and it has a built-in 5.1/6.1/7.1 card, then you can use the front and rear outputs of this, however, the quality of a built-in computer sound card will not normally be as good as a proper dedicated DJ sound card. If you use your computer's card, then you would need to plug a pair of stereo amplified speakers into the front output and your headphones into the rear output.
NOTE: Most laptops do not have separate front and rear outputs, even if the sound card internally is surround sound capable.

Both are plug and play with the VirtualDJ LE included with them. And you can also optionally upgrade to the full Pro at a discount: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html
If you get the MixTrack, we would recommend the MixTrack Pro model that has its own built-in sound card (Like the Hercules MK4.)
If you are interested in scratching, then the MixTrack Pro is the better choice because it has touch-sensitive jogwheels.
