Topic: Audio Configuration setup!Please help someone

Hi Guys

I am very new to DJ'n

I am stuck..I do not have speakers apart from the ones in my laptop

I have headphones for the mixer and my laptop speakers but can't seem to be able to use the laptop speakers to mix but hear the song i want to mix through the headphones. It seems to be one or the other. I managed to get one deck where i could hear through the laptop and one through the laptop speakers.

Can anyone help please?

pardon my ignorance

so to have the laptop speakers as my main sound and to use the headphones to hear the tune im mxinig i need to buy an external sound card. I can not just plug the headphones into the IDJ3 and expect them to work?
 
@Blu, that's a nice blog and all but its kind of confusing. Plus its long as hell, lol! Would be better if you just posted diagram in my opinion.

it has confused me

i tried what it says and it doesnt seem to let me hear what i am going to mix through the headphones and the crossfade doesnt seem to work when i do it
 
Does your unit have a built in soundcard?? And looking at pictures your unit is made to be used with external speakers not your laptop speakers. So yeah you kinda of need to use 2 soundcards. Your laptop soundcard would be assigned as your master out and the other one would be used for your headphones.

Hope that makes alittle more sense.

My unit has a built in soundcard and my laptop has a sound card
 
Its the IDJ3
 
Ok go into the advanced config and assign the IDJ3's soundcard as your headphones and your laptops soundcard as the master.

Try that and let me know if it works

Oh yeah, the same as I said but you don't have to go into the advanced config...........
