The NS6 has a new firmware upgrade but the only way to get it is to install Itch, which I prefer not to do.
My question for VDJ... is the firmware necessary and if so, how do the VDJ users go about getting this?

There is nothing wrong with installing Itch on your system to get the firmware upgrade.
I have not done the firmware upgrade yet - to busy getting ready for DJ Expo and working on a couple of other deadlines before then.
But, I believe the firmware was only necessary because of a change on the device detection within Itch.
You can go the 'hard route' and contact Numark for a separate firmware upgrade - but again, I have no clue if it fixes anything for other softwares - think it was just a Itch fix :P
