I would have use the mixtrack pro soundcard if i were you and set the sound setup outputs to headphone rather than advance config.
You can choose the sound card to 2cards and select the right soundcards for your master and headphone. Otherwise use the Asio4all for additional yet simple flexibility and performance.
Check your performances tab also and set the soundcard latency to auto.
Hope that helps.

the problem with using the mixtracks soundcard, is tht its rather pants. the audio output is extremely flat and there is no differentials between the mids, lows and highs.
this is the reason i went for the advanced config. i have a feeling it culd be the latency, but i havent quite worked out yet just whats causing the problem. i have a feeling its something silly. i need to have a play around but i really cant be bothered to start switching cables around and stuff today. lol.

I doubt its latency, my laptop is pretty good, runs video perfect and when ever I use the onboard soundcard the same thing happens.
