I want to map the play_pause functions of both the right deck and left deck to / and Z respectively, but when I assign it to the buttons it applies to both of them... If I hit Z or / it works just like a regular play_pause

you just need to assign the function to a deck, you can use a number eg "deck 1", "deck 2" or if you have a shift programmed to control more than 2 decks you would use "deck left", "deck right", you can also assign a control to effect the deck in the pfl with 'deck default" or the deck that is not in pfl with "deck active"
So the short answer is "deck 1 play_pause" LOL
