Topic: Need advice buying a laptop

I'm looking to get a laptop to replace my old desktop and was wondering if this would fill my needs.

Laptop:
IBM thinkpad T60
Specs:
Intel core duo 1.8GHz
3GB Ram
60 GB HHD
Windows XP

Obviously based on the specs you are working with there you are not planning on doing video mixing.
Unless you are extremely strapped for cash I wold think you could do better - what is your budget?
Those specs are at least a 3 and most likely 4 year old laptop if not older.
Almost any current laptop will be a better choice.

As Mike has pointed out the thinkpad will sit somewhere between the minimum and recommended requirements in most degrees and if you are getting it for less than $300 and don't mind having a 10 year old OS on PC then it will work. But if you can swing the choice at the top of this list will run circles around it and have an OS that will be supported far into the future. You will also get much lower power usage and longer battery life with newer hardware due to circuitry advances.
