I was playing an outdoor gig in the sun last weekend, I played for about 2 hours fine, and then suddenly a few tracks kept skipping randomly, I figured the laptop was getting too hot so I got it into the shade and although it cooled it still kept happening. It seemed every 5th track just skipped terribly and had to be stopped.
It sounded like it was trying to constantly trying to auto cue.
I was trying out a new skin and thought I might of had something turned on (e.g. smart cue) I turned everything off and it still kept happening.
Rebooted system and software, everything was ok then it started again.
I then thought it might be something to do with a few "borrowed" mp3's I had obtained. However I have never had this issue before with years of playing VDJ?
Over a 4 hour set about 5 songs skipped. It was not nice.

Had the RMX output direct into an amp which was outputting to non- powered speakers.
Normally I put the RMX through a CD channel on another mixer, into powered speakers.
Maybe this was the issue?
Anyone have any idea's?

A couple of years ago I did a gig outside in the sun. I tried to keep shade on the laptops. A few days later the hard drive went bad in one. I think I cooked the lube out of it.

I would suggest checking your hard drive for errors and if ok defrag. Good luck.
 
Cheers Jimmy, I've since had it running constantly for five hours inside with no drama.
Maybe it was all just the heat.

Everything seems to be good now.

Next time I'll just play it safe and Dj from inside the swimming pool. :)
 
Was there a kangaroo on stage? LMAO
 
ok I can laugh about it now, but at the time it was a damn nightmare, which seems to have just disappeared..
The only kangaroo's present were on buns with smokey BBQ sauce... nyum..!
 
Back your hard drive up right now. Don't take any chances.
 
Left deck has been acting weird about every other gig, skips and will sometimes re-start the song 10 seconds after hitting play. I'f it continues with the NS6 I guess I'll be submitting a ticket.

Does it act up without a controller?
 
DJECoast, are you using VDJ 7.0.4? I had the same trouble with the left deck. It wouldn't restart the song but would have a split second skip. I"m using the RMX, updated the drivers but still did it. I didn't try without the RMX to see if that was it. I rolled backed to 7.0,3 for now with no issues.
 
I ran VDj all day yesterday without the controller and not a single issue.
This weekend I'll be doing another long test run with the RMX. (and backing up my hdd :)

And now that someone mentions it, when it was skipping it was always on the right deck. (using the latest updated version of v.7)
 
I think I'm still on 7.03, and haven't tried running without the NS7. I thought the end was near tonight, left deck became sloppy and had terrible sound with popping. I forgot to turn on subs and only had the tops on for about 20 seconds, and attempted to turn on subs hot. About 45 minutes later things got scary. This isn't the first time I've done this, I'm always in such a rush to set-up I often forget a switch here and there.
After turning everything off and back on, I had great sound & NS7 function. I don't know if its a software issue or hardware, but next week I'll be breakin-in a NS6, which may either begin a whole new chapter of issues, or render pure musical bliss.
