Topic: Using iPod touch as headphone jack?

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

Hi guys,
I hope this question hasn't been asked already but would it be possible to use my ipod (which i have installed the remote on) as my headphone output and use my computer output for speakers?
I really don't want to put another soundcard into my mac, because insurance won't cover it (bastards).
Any help would be much appreciated :D

Nope, it won't work like that. The VDJ iPhone app only works as a remote controller, it does not rely audio data to iPhone.

When you say "put another sound card into my mac" I'm guessing that you mean an internal sound card to a desktop Mac? How about an external USB/Firewire sound card instead?

Bugger...
I have a tapco firewire 6x4, would that work?? I am a noob with this stuff.
Cheers in advance (:

I'm not entirely sure...it depends how that particular sound card handles channel routing - e.g. are the line output and the headphone output two separate channels or is the same signal sent via both channels. However, on the long run it would be better to get a sound card that has (at least) two stereo output pairs. This way you'll be able to connect the sound card to an external mixer etc.
