Hi guys
Using time coded vinyl with VDJ, i drag and drop MP3 into each deck
one plays, whilst the other i sort out the pitch in the headphones
Question is, is there an easy one button click on the keyboard or something to rewind the record i will be mixing in so its at the beginning
I know i have to lift the needle off the record just as you would with any vinyl, but how do you put it back at the start without having to use the mouse to drag the sound waves back to the beginning (thats the method i am using at the minute)

Try putting it in Absolute mode and see how that works for ya.

I'm using virtual dj for broadcasting, im doing a lot of live sets with it. I've just installed the vdj 7, and wanted to set up the mic, the headphones and of course the master... I was a bit surprised when i realized that there is no "master + mic" anymore..."okay" i said..it cant be so difficult to set it up as i did in the older versions...but it WAS!!! I didn't manage to have my voice in the microphone and also the music at the same time... I saw the same problem at soo many topics in the forum but I realized that everybody's talking about ASIO, and Hercules, and soo many kinds of controllers and sound cards, so i couldn't find any useful tip witch includes my settings.
What do i mean?
I dont have any controllers for vdj... I dont have asio driver..just a built-in soundcard (realtek ac'97). I used to set it like this (in the older versions):
Sound Setup- (outputs) Headphones- (sound card) 4.1 card... then i plugged the headphones to the green jack, the speakers to the blue one, and selected in the record settings "master+mic" and i did not have to do anything else with the mic at all. Now i cant work with these settings.. In advanced config if i choose input microphone it has got only some kind of noise...but not my VOICE, only the music works during recording...
If i choose record loopback, i have my own voice on the recording (bad quality) but there is NO music....
I have got no any ideas about it...I dont want to change vdj 7 to an older one because I need at least 3 decks.. PLS SOMEBODY HELP ME...
And before answer it is important: I haven't got asio, i haven't got controllers...just my pc, my mic, my headphones, and the software..so please try to give an answer witch works with only one built in soundcard..because i haven't got anything else...

I have made you a "rewind selektah" button
deck # stop ? deck # goto 0ms & deck # play : deck # effect 'backspin' active on
The rewind selektah button activate the backspin effect if a track is playing, but when the track stops hit the rewind selektah button again and you will instantly be transported to the start or the song. If this is for drum n bass which I assume it is you should set a cue something like cue 2 at the start of the first build and use it will keep the flow when your playing and use this instead
deck # stop ? deck # goto cue 2 & deck # play : deck # effect 'backspin' active on
Or if you want to get really fancy, you could get a sample that says "Rewind Selektah Boh" and place it in sampler 12 and get it to play whenever the backspin is activated like this
deck # stop ? deck # goto cue 2 & deck # play : deck # effect 'backspin' active on & sampler 12 play
Final thought for the day... Why did the elephant get lost in the jungle... Because the jungle is MASSIVE!

Haha I misread your post... Huey's right use absolute or smart vinyl mode, if you want to use the needle to change the position of the track, or if you use a button map it as goto 0ms and make sure you are in either smart or relative vinyl mode
