Guys...i'm not sure if you are all aware of who Tayla, or Paul is. Let me tell you...he's a secret hideaway helpful masterful genius!!! I first dealt with him many moons ago regarding an issue i was having. It was so long ago i'm not even sure what the issue was but i imagine it was something to do with his baby...namely FIRETEXT.
Now, if you are unsure what Firetext is, well, frankly...where have you been for the last 18-24 months???!?!? Anyway, Firetext is a cool toy that allows users to text the screen and Paul is like the UK guy for it. So...in the first instance...big ups for supporting the WHOLE OF THE UK MATE!!! I had looked at Firetext before and in all honesty, whilst i loved the idea, it was not a feasible option for me at the time as most of my stuff is mobile work and there hadn't been too much demand for it here in Scotland so i shelved the idea for a while.
Anyway...recently Pangolin came along and like most folk i was impressed with their stuff. However, as i looked into Pangolin it only seemed fair that i also looked again at Firetext at least from a comparison point of view. So anyway, back onto Skype and back in touch with the big guy. Nothing i asked for was too much hassle. I could never put him to any trouble. He is always polite to talk to and always cracks a joke and will ALWAYS do everything he can to help you...and the best of it all is...he's about 170 miles down south from me. He's based in the UK. He's one guy with a wealth of knowledge. He's based in the UK. If he doesn't know the answer...he will go and find it for you. He's based in the UK. He can deal with most issues himself and can speak to the 'powers that be' only if he really needs to. He's based in the UK. Oh...did i mention that he's based in the UK? There's not an ocean between us and no time difference. Don't get me wrong, time differences don't bother me in the slightest...but HANDS ON ASSISTANCE WHERE I NEED IT DOES!!! I'm the same with all companies, utilities etc etc etc that i deal with. If i can't speak to someone over the phone when i want to i'm not overly happy.
That is the SOLE reason that instead of buying Pangolin software, i bought Firetext. Now...i'm not endorsing Firetext in anyway. As much as i think it's very cool software, I believe that each to their own and you can use whatever toy you like. I'm not saying that one is better than the other, I just preferred the fact that i could get support in the UK. It's not even about it being the UK...it's about it being in the same country!!! So anyway, having bought Firetext i am now very happy and for as long as Paul's about i won't go anywhere else. In fact, last week I discovered a very slight issue with Firetext which was found to be a tiny bug and the issue was remedied ONLINE whilst chatting to Paul and Alex (Paul's couterpart secret hideaway helpful masterful genius based in Uruguay) and the new file delivered to me online in less than one minute! You don't get much more hands on than that!!!
The one thing i am endorsing is Paul. This guy has helped no end with many more an issues than Firetext. We have spoken for countless hours on his other favourite toy - Skype - long into the early hours of the morning raking through many a solution to issues i've had with graphics cards/sound cards/plugin problems/video issues and even just general DJ chit chat and banter...once we get the 'across the border lingo' issue sorted!!! ;o)
You may also be aware that Paul is a flash genius and can put together some very nifty video works (check him out on gigatribe). I asked him for a TINY little logo thing...and he actually revolutionised my whole show with a fantastically high quality video with my logo spinning round and other bits and bobs coming out to get you. It's amazing. And again, nothing is too much trouble for him.
The guy is indeed a secret hideaway helpful masterful genius. He's like a VirtualDJ/Firetext/Flash Video/Logo spinning Jedi knight and i for one salute you Paul. You have helped me no end and I thank you for everything. Big round of applause for Paul guys...c'mon...you know you want to...:o) I think at the very least promotion to...i dunno...owner of Atomix or something might be in order here...hehehehe. Or at least another star...;o)

Yep, Paul is certainly a great bloke. I've moved on now but I still consider him a good friend and one of the most helpful guys on any forum.
