Using ver 7.0.3 (free) if I drop a song onto a track from the search panel, I see that the track length is updated. Now maybe I'm being a wee bit picky here but don't you think track length is up there with title, artist and genre? I tried scanning for tags but no luck. Am I missing something? After years of working with my music library in Windows Explorer and Media Monkey and always seeing the track lengths, I thought, well, hate to be presumptuous, but that the track lengths would show up in Virtual DJ.

Track length should appear automatically in the database when a track is either loaded in a player or scanned for BPM.
You need to scan tracks in VDJ first. Select tracks then right click and the option to scan for BPM is there.

Got it. Thanks for that. However, that's going to take quite a while. Beyond that, if I move folders around in my music library outside of VDJ I'll have to rescan. How is that a good thing? Does Traktor work this way?

If you move them within VDJ then the DB will automatically update and you won't need to rescan.
