Well had been thinkin all day about a truss system for a screen...........so on my way home from work I pasted the soccer fields and boom it hit me like a ton of bricks!!
Why not buy a soccer goal and just stretch the screen in front of that!! Well I called around and nobody sells small goals. So off to Home Depot for some materials.
Came home, grab my son and got to work. Well this is what we came up with so far,

It\'s about 8 1/2 foot tall by 6 1/2 foot wide. Diagonal is about 8 foot inside. In the picture I didn\'t have the base on so the string from the ceiling is holding it up, Lmao!! Anyways this is my first attempt and I think its gonna turn out pretty good.
Thanks for the time

And even if it says it has 3% left on the bulb, you can reset it at least 2X.. We run 8 projectors at work and have reset them multiple times.. They just fade.. Yes the bulbs are expensive, but it will be ok!! GREAT JOB!

Thanks man! Has to the 3% thing I was wondering about that. Im gonna have to research that alittle more. Is it like a performance thing, meaning to get the best picture use for only this long or something like that.
Thanks for the info and help thus far

Now when you say "Hot Spot" are you talkin about the spot where I can see them light from the projector? Where it comes out of the lens, like your staring at the sun, lol!!
Thanks for all the help and info

that's exactly what I mean, Hot spotting: concentrated projector light coming through the screen.

And I bet that's because of the rear projection and the type of cloth I'm using. I'll have to try out different ways of setting it up. For most of my venues we are usually up on a stage so I think once I get rid of that ceiling mount it shouldn't be so bad from the crowds perspective, I hope, lol!

if you keep the projector low and angle it so the hot spot is above people's eyes, they won't see it. hope that sounds right. I had same problem before.

I wouldn't get over-excited about it really. There's a trade off going on there, The material must be thin enough to accept the rear projection and still have a useable image that can be viewed in a semi-lit environment.
So the spandex is actually the best material; but that hotspot is the bad that the good goes with.
Unless you spend about 800.00 on a dalite rear projection surface

Wow 800 bucks, maybe down the road, lol! Well I think it'll be alright. Like I said were usually on a stage so it'll be all good. Also I found this wireless thing that plugs into my laptop and the other piece attaches to a tv or projector and sends the screen output from my laptop the whatever I have it hooked up to. Has anyone used one of these before or something like it?? I'll post a link to it when I find it.
Thanks for the time fellas

Wow, we used those projectors back in the early 2000's good to see the old sharps are still going strong. Its was a hell of a projector back in the day. Looks like you got pretty lucky to score one, you should look up the specs on projector central and see how it compares to today. I personally use a 700s nec its a couple years old now but still going strong.

question, can you stop the hotspot from bouncing the image off a mirror on to the screen????

Good question. I'll have to try it next week when I got some time. Or if anybody has tried it let us know.

Hotspots are usually caused by a poor screen material, a hot spot happens when light get reflected back at the projector. Fixes for this are pretty simple better screen, or use your brightness control to try and even it out, moving the projector will only result in moving the hotspot. Guys there is a reason why Rp (rear projection) screens are more expensive then spandex and this is one of them. The material they use has good color retention, high transmission and low reflectance properties.

Thanks for the info. Just ordered a better screen, one that's made for rear projection. Atleast that's what the website said, lol!

Hi Huey
I got my screen from Djscreens.com and while its a bit costly, its worth it. Works great for rear or front projection. I wanted to let you know that you can look for an additional lens to mount on the projector that will cut the throw distance to about 2' for the same screen size. I have an Optoma projector and last time I checked the lens for mine was around $300.
