Hello all im new to the forums. Was hoping someone can help me out in here because i do not have access to the hardware forum yet. Was just handed down an american audio vms4 controller. Want to start djing but have not a clue how to hook this thing up. I hooked it up, got vdj pro full, set up all my buttons, crossfader, etc. Could only hear music through my laptop speakers and was playing both songs so i couldnt hear the second song on cue on my headphones (had headphones plugged into the VMS4 headphone port. I know im doing a ton of stuff wrong lol.
Things I have: Macbook Pro, American Audio VMS4, Virtual dj pro full and USB speaker. What else do i need and how do i hook it up.
Thank you so much in advance!

Hi mate
Sounds like you are a bit mixed up. Firstly. If you have VDJ pro it makes sense to register your copy. That said you will need to set up your sound card correctly. At the moment you have this set to only play via the laptop speakers. Go to the Config button and select Sound Setup. Find your hardware and configure the Sound Setup to use this and not your laptops card.
The USB speaker is not going to help you as you need to connect the output from your American Audio unit to the speaker system via standard audio cables.

Hope this helps.

Ok cool that makes sense, I'll try it out! Any speakers you recommend

Also, can I convert my desktop speakers by buying a Y cable? Would that work?

Registering your software will give you access to the majority of the forums and give you the answers you seek. There is a pile of info on this controller in the forums.

Access to the hardware forum isn't restricted...

Hi mate
If your desktop speakers have a line or cd input or a stereo input that you would normaly hook in to the line out jack on your pc, then yes. you will need a cable that provides a pair of phono plugs at one end and a mini stereo jack plug at the other. Hook the phono plugs up to the output on your controller and plug the jack into the input on the speaker. If your speakers just have a cable with a jack plug that is fixed to the speaker you can get a Y cable with a mini jack socket and the phono plugs. With this you just plug the jack cable from the speakers into the Y cable and then the phono plugs into your controller.
