Good day all-
I have been running 5.2 for a while, and it is time to make the jump to the new version. Will the database transfer?
More specifically, will the edits I have made to song titles and album information transfer? I didn't take the smart route and make these changes in the mp3 files themselves, so this would be a big help.
Conversely, is there a way to re-tag songs based on the information in the VDJ 5.2 database? Is that a feature in 7?
Sorry for the big pile of questions.
Best,
J

All information will be retained when you upgrade.
You will need to install each major version since v5, so if you have never run VirtualDJ v6 before, then you will need to install v6.1.2 first. Then after that is installed and working, you can then upgrade to v7. Assuming that you have purchased the software, you can obtain v6.1.2 by contacting us in support: http://www.virtualdj.com/contact/index.html - Otherwise, please purchase VirtualDJ first by going to http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html
You should always make a backup before upgrading or making other major changes to your system.
You can see what changes have been made since v5.2 by going to http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/VirtualDJ_History.html
NOTE: You should backup your database on a regular basis if the information contained in it is important to you. If using external drives, you should also backup the database found at the root of each drive. Also, please ensure that you backup your entire music collection.
Your main database can be found in My Documents\VirtualDJ on a PC or /users/YOURNAME/Documents/VirtualDJ on a Mac. You should backup this entire folder to also keep playlists, history tracklistings, custom skins, effects, etc.
