Does anyone know how to configure VDJ 7 to accept a 'line in' when recording audio?

Thanks,

Not sure you can do that, cause VDJ will record what plays on the decks, video or audio, my guess is no..

Joey...

Well, you could do it with past VDJ programs 5 & 6. They removed it from VDJ 7. I don't understand why they removed it. When doing a karaoke show, I used to record a singer singing during the chorus of the song. Then, before they finished the song, would load it into the opposite player and play it after they finished as they were leaving the stage. It was a big hit, only problem was, VDJ would sometimes lock up on me. So, I quit doing it. Now that I've upgraded to WIN7 and VDJ 7, I don't have the locking up problems with the program. So, I would like to go back to recording them. Disappointed!!

It can be done ill post a vid later tonight. What soundcard are you using?

Huey

I using both my on board sound card and a sound blaster. If you need to know exactly what they are, I'll let you know tomorrow. Don't have the comp here handy.

Thanks for the come back.

So the sound is coming off of which soundcard and I assume going into a mixer?

Huey

i am using a rmx, do u have an rmx to do a video on?

i wanna record with a line in

Yeah I got a RMX also so ill do that as well.

Huey

suweet!

Hi ronnieskar,

1. How did you get the mike to send it's signal through VDJ in order to record the vocals and the Music Track together to one recorded file using VirtualDJ...
2. Did you record video or just audio from the karaoke track..

Thanks,

Joey....

Yeah are we talkin audio or video?? Cause if its video I don't use VDJ to record video.....

Huey

farhanashraj is talkin Ext. line in video and ronnieskar is talkin Ext. line in...audio, either way interesting

Joey...

Well audio I got down, video I'll give a go and see what happens.

Huey

Edit. I think he wants to know how to record audio with the RMX aswell, I think he was asking for a Video on that also.

He mention karaoke, I'd like to loop in a channel from my M-Audio NRV10 mixer to record in VDJ, but I have a E-Mu 1616m PCI sound card..

Joey...

Hmm.........well I don't use VDJ to record video but I'll make a video using my NI 8 (same concept, different card) and I'll make one for the RMX as well.

Off to work on videos now, be back shortly
Huey

Tried this config in advance setup and everything worked, but the mike inputs 1&2, couldn't get it to record, I can hear it fine on the speakers...But not in the headphones either...

I use a 8 channel mix board. The mics and output (music) from the comp are the inputs. The main outs go to my powered speakers. The recording outs go to the line in on the computer. On VDJ 5 & 6, when in the audio record mode, you could configure what inputs VDJ would record (Master, Master + Mic or Line In). I always used the line in and could record the mix from the mix board. With VDJ7, they removed those options.

Thanks for the come back!

Yeah just do it how Joey posted. Then under Record loopback choose the soundcard that has your main board running into it and your good to go.
Your mic input on your laptop isn't necessary anymore, besides I bet you can't record with your line in and onborad mic anyways (unless its a TRUE line in, and most laptops share it) at the same time.........

Let's us know
Huey
PS I made the video but youtube was acting up lastnight so ill try to upload again today.
