The home free version of VDJ7 will work with your controller for 10 minutes only for trial purposes. You will need to upgrade to VDJ 7 Pro to have full external controller support.

Once you have registered your LE version on this site (if your controller came with the CD) you will get a discounted price for the upgrade to pro.

so to use this controller on the 7 i will have to pay like $299?

Yes, only the full VirtualDJ Pro supports MIDI controllers.

Home FREE supports mouse and keyboard only and is for non-commercial (Unpaid) use only (It cannot be legally used at DJ gigs where you are being paid.)

If the consoles came with VirtualDJ LE (Limited Edition), then you can use that instead, however it will be an older version of the software, can only be used with the hardware it came with (E.g: MP3 DJ Console Edition will only work with DJ Console MP3 connected) and is limited in features.

Assuming that it is not second hand or the discount has not already been used, you may be able to upgrade from VirtualDJ Console Edition to Pro at a discount by going to http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html and enter the DJ Console software serial number in the box provided.
