Hi all,
I have never used VDJ for video, however the restaurant complex I work in has quite a few 50" LCD and plasma screens dotted around and I had thought about looking in to running a video feed from VDJ at some point.
The only music videos I have at present are from itunes, and the resolution of them is not great. On my 1920x1200 Apple cinema display they are pretty small to be honest and when maximized they look like crap.
I guess these plasmas at my work may be up to 1920x1080 so playing an itunes video will be pretty pixellated. Fine on a normal telly though!
My question is where do the video DJ's get high resolution music videos from and what resolution are they?. No point going any further with this if downloaded videos are going to look crap on a big screen.
Cheers
Keith

even on a normal telly they still don't look that good. best quality video format will be from Promo Only, TMCentury, and some of the "legal" video remix services online. not sure about others over there across the pond but ask around on here. they'll tell ya.

Smashvidz.com. mp4, mpeg1, mpeg2. I looked at the resoulution of a couple of my vidz I run at the club that show decently on the lcd's and my projector. It looks like the videos are anywhere from 640x360 to 1280x720. Hope this helps.

You can also use the backdrop plugins and showlogo plugins in order to reduce the size of your vid so that it doesn't blow up to the entire screen and look pixelated. The same way tv stations put bars around their vids. Keep your aspect ratio the same as the original and add high def graphics and logo's to spruce up the picture around the vid.
Still your best bet is to only use vids from quality vendors with mp4 formats that are stunning even in standard definition. Vendors mentioned earlier always a good bet.

Forgot to mention that you will get a drastically better picture using hdmi cables. Your picture is gonna look like crap if you are using svideo on a high def tv, and your video card needs to be able to project a 1080p screen to the extended desktop.

The MP4s from Promo Only are only 720x480. They will look pixelated on your monitor. Keep in mind that your monitor's resolution is set to way more than you will ever need for a TV and you are sitting 2-3 feet away from it. I have used videos from iTunes when I was in a tight spot. If you are having noticeably fuzzy pictures, the first place I would look is your cabling. The best connection to your TV would be DVI. I personally use VGA. Don't kill yourself trying to get 1080p resolution. Hardly anybody makes music videos in BluRay quality. I believe DVD quality (still considered HD) is 720p. Depending on the capabilities of your video card, you may be able to keep a high resolution on your computer and adjust your extended desktop to fit the TVs needs (Most TVs won't do 1200 like your computer).
If all of the TVs are watching the same channel at the same time, I'm sure there is a splitter / video distribution amp somewhere. You will need to look at it to find out how to connect to it. I would try to use the existing cable if possible. Most coax cable will carry an HD signal without a problem. There are options out there that can convert your computer video signal to almost any other signal.
