Happy new year all !
enjoyed a great gig last night, despite the usual moans like: can you play something to liven the place up ? (you always get one eh) lol
anyway, moving swiftly on..I kicked off the set with an hour or two of karaoke, got the requests in, lined up the performers, then ran into a big problem :-
When I loaded a karaoke track on a deck all was good, up came the video screen with lyrical content, all good. Performance 1 (myself) to break the ice went ok, then I loaded my tune on the other deck to fill in the wait for the next singer but..and a big but, when I loaded the second karaoke song onto the opposite deck that the tune was playing on: the karaoke song loaded, but there was no lyric content in the video screen :( just a blank screen !! I had to call the next singer up, then close down vdj, reload the karaoke song in order to display the lyric content in the video screen..goes without saying I struggled with this, as I ended up having to close down the software with each new karaoke performance.
Not Good.
I also ran into another problem with the karaoke songs..if I load a song on say deck 1, then load a tune gap filler on deck 2, after the tune on deck 2 has finished playing when I go to load another karoke song onto whatever deck, the lyric content of the previous karaoke song comes up on the video screen and spins round all over the fresh karaoke song currently playing :( leaving me with the embarising chore of closing down and re-opening of vdj to start the fresh karaoke song from scratch ?
Also, I've tried using the karaoke plug-in that's meant to 'organize' the whole karaoke event, but an error pops up and suggests I try re-installing the latest version of vdj, which I already have..?
Help greatly appreciated gang, because I really wanna get into the karaoke side of things and don't want these bad experiences putting me off in future ;)

it is a problem nobody wants if it does occur trust me coz it really throws your set off kilter !

When having to run karaoke I never bother with the plugin, this is through choice and nothing to do with the plugin, I just find it more convenient to do it this way and I never get any foul ups...
Load up a few tunes in the automix feature and run on deck two, as karaoke requests start to come in put tracks to the bottom of automix, cue up your karaoke tracks on deck one and commence with first singer and repeat above process, keep topping up your automix list with either requests or your own choice.
Run your night like this and you won't have any problems.

you basically mean use the automix function to split the decks like what the plug-in would do right?
so without being thick lol, I dont wanna activate the automix throughout do I..? otherwise the tunes will run into the karaoke songs that I put to the bottom/in between the automix list eh !

yep run your automix and fade over to deck 1 when you have a singer on and just pause deck 2.
just been thinking of something that may help you give a bit more to your show... give me the name of your show and i'll rustle up something for you.
if you have any logo's that would be of help.
you'll be able to run it in the free Firetext plugin.

hense the reason for no logo as of yet, but very much appreciate the offer !
when karaoke-ing, I just call it: 'funkystuff karaoke' for now. My username (on here) relates to my old producer name from many moons back when I was into it, but have have returned to my first love (dj-ing) via the digital domain transforming from an ole skool vinyl head ;)
things have come along way since the days of one turn-table and no mixer lmao.
but seriously, thanks again cos those hiccups I had new yrs eve did dis-hearten me a bit especially when the dam lyrics went awol

Haven\'t got time to night to make a vid tonight but will try and make one for you tomorrow.
You can set up different templates and put them on screen and all you got to do is put in the name of the singer you want to scroll across screen.
You can even add a camera feed so you can have the singer on screen singing to the words.
