Topic: Simple solution for non-WIFI venues and iRemote.

Following the thread about the iRemote app, there are many good suggestions with regards to setting up an ad-hoc wireless connection for use with iRemote, which some may find daunting (or may even not be able to get it working - i.e me!)

A simple, yet effective method is to dig around in the cupboard, that everyone has, where old routers, computers and other old electrical items get banished, find that old wireless router that your previous ISP sent to you, plug the power in (but not the ADSL line), switch it on and setup both your laptop and Apple device wireless connection to use this wireless router - You might find it advantageous to switch off your normal wireless router while you do this.

Once done, you can simply take the "old" wireless router with you to the venue, plug it in and there you have your wireless network.

I used my old SKY router like this last night and it worked like a charm and as it's just another wireless connection my laptop and iPhone connect automatically.

Others will no doubt have views on this, but I thought I'd share my experiences.

very well explained thank you very much

Damn, I wish I kept it. A few weeks ago i've dumped one to the trash can.

If you are using a macbook, I just go to the network preferences and select "Create Network". You can then set a password then connect to the network with your iphone/ipod. Works flawlessly for me.
