I just purchased the numark DJ in a box. It consists of two TT1610 turntables and a DM950 USB mixer. I also have virtual DJ. My question is what else do I need in order to make music run on the tables from my PC laptop?

You will need a good sound card i.e. like the deejay trim. Plug your decks into the trim, and then plug the trim into your mixer and the USB cable to your laptop. Then go into sound settings select the headphone and speaker’s icon, and the 2 line in mixer icon. O and don’t forget some time coded wax (serato are good).

If you look at the products hardware page it’s a good place to start, and setup diagrams are in the PDF that came with VDJ. That is only if you have a legit version though! I would register your software if you have for more features and free updates

Hope this helps,
IAN

It does thank you. I do only have the free version of vdj just wanted to see what it does before purchasing. Do you think I should purchase this or the serato scratch live because of the recommended vinyl's?

Also if I stuck with the vdj program would the basic package be enough to get started or would I need to buy the full version. I'm just starting so it's just recreational use in my home.

All right last question, I'm on a budget and was thinking of just getting the newmark dj io sound card to save some cash. Would this be the same thing basically as the veejay one?

If you wish to use timecode vinyls to control VirtualDJ, you will need to purchase the full VirtualDJ Professional: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

Home FREE and VirtualDJ Pro Basic do not support timecode or MIDI controllers - They are for mixing using your mouse and keyboard only.

Also, Numark DJIO is not suitable for timecode use - It has does not have the two stereo inputs that are required in order to receive the timecode signal from your vinyl decks. You need a 4-in/4-out ASIO sound card such as Hercules DJ Trim, Native Instruments Audio 4 DJ, ESI Maya44 USB, etc. to be able to use timecode to control VirtualDJ.

Numark DJIO is intended for MIDI controller or mouse/keyboard users only.

Thank you so much!
