Hey folks.
I'm looking to buy a Midi controller for personal use/live performances. I have previously used the Hercules RMX and was satisfied (particularly with the fact that it has a built in sound card). Recently, I've been eying the Vestax VCI-100 and Typhoon.
Anyone have any feedback on the latter 2? Or any suggestions on other controllers out there?
Thanks in advance!

The important question - what's your budget?
Have you looked at the American Audio VMS4, Denon DN-MC6000 or Native Instruments S4?

I believe that the vci-100 does not have an internal sound card, that aside, its a nice unit. I have not tried the typhoon yet. I own the Numark Mixtrack Pro and Love it. Its a clean (uncluttered) controller that is just the right size for its layout. The Jog wheels are also great on it. Prior to the Mixtrack Pro, I owned a Numark Total Control which also works great with VDJ.

Hey guys, as for the budget, I'd like to stay around $500 or less.
I like the RMX, but not too fond of the jog wheels (there's always trade offs, I guess).
I'll be sure to look up your suggestions!

In my view though, the Mixtrack and Mixtrack Pro are a bit too basic.
They have no channel gain controls.
They also have no level meters at all. Nothing on the channels or on the master output.
They're like some old school mixer from the 70s!
If you liked the RMX but not the jogs, how about the new Hercules DJ CONSOLE 4-Mx?

Its almost december so i would be patient, research the archives & consider waiting till the 2011 winter namm show in january 11th - 13th
A controller will most likely be revealed ,updated & officially released around the spring or summer then disappoint or fulfill a role & be replaced the following year..I anticipate more wireless ,multitouch or 4 deck products being showcased but i thnk motorised faders will be the next logical evolution for multichannel mixing.
If your impatient i would recommend purchasing a unit with a built in soundcard as a good quality separate audiocard can inflate the overall cost.

I just bought my first DJ controller as well. I was torn between the Numark Mixtrack Pro and the Hercules RMX. I settled for the Hercules because it felt more professional rather than the mixtrack feeling like a Dj Hero game controller. But for my personal and occasional college party needs. the RMX suites me just fine.
I hope that helps
