Does any1 know how to do this?

I edited the file info such as "artist" "title" on drive A and want all this information on drive B.

I copied the "local database" file from drive A along with the "database" file in my documents to drive B and loaded VDJ but the information is not corresponding

Sorry this may have sounded a little detached.

If this helps. I had virtual DJ 6 installed on Hard drive 1 and installed virtual dj 7. I installed virtual DJ 7 straight on to hard drive 2 then copied the XML files over from hard drive 1 to hard drive 2. Now all the file info for the WAVs i changed are not corresponding. What is wrong?

Goto Config, Browser, Select the hard disk from the dropdown menu, then click Add, Clean and Fix by this order. Adding files to database might take several minutes.

Thank you very much.

I keep reading this question over and over again. It seems that the "database" issue is a major problem for this software, since there is no official answer from ATOMIX...

So here's another story for you: I just purchased the V7 Broadcast software. I tried to get my database from my older V2 software to work, but no luck. Months and months of work down the drain...

Whatever...

So I started creating once again my cue points, my "genre" data, my "comment" data etc. At some point I wanted this data to be also available on my mobile hard disk and on my lap top (on which I loaded the software as well). So, I went into the "Virtual DJ" folder to look for the famous "database.xml" file. Surprise-surprise, there was NO such a file in the folder! I know that the data is somewhere there, because every time I start the VDJ, I see it (cues, etc).

Once again, another VDJ user asks the same old questions:
-How can I transfer my database to be readable on another hard disk?
-How is this data preserved between two different versions of VDJ?

and the fresh question of course: Where is the database.xml file in "V7 Broadcast"?

I would like to thank in advance my fellow VDJ users for their future answers. However, my opinion, it that WE HAVE TO GET AN OFFICIAL ANSWER FROM THE COMPANY ITSELF - AT LAST! No speculations, no experiments.

Just a clean, promt, fast, easy to understand (yes, consider that you ARE talking to a person that is NOT a computer genious) ANSWER.

I tried this although i did hit 'fix' first rather than clean. But i repeated the steps and there were no results. The file information did not fix itself.

Also there is no add although the drive was in the drop down menu so i just selected it and followed the steps.

When i load a song now though on the Hard drive i am trying to 'fix' the information on it does not read or store any BPM info. etc. If the song has not yet been loaded through VDJ. The song just loads without beatgrid.

Ok here is what has happened.

I changed the names of some of the files before i copied the XML files over to the other Hard Drive.

It is only the ones that i have changed that are not loading properly into Virtual DJ. Ie. They load into the Waveform view but no BPM, Key etc info is being recorded?

If you change the names of some files, then they are not recognized from software anymore. You will have to reanalyze them and add all the other infos manually again.

No i renamed them through Virtual DJ. Right clicking then changing the file infos artist, title. This is when i wanted to copy the files from the drive i changed the info on to the one i hadn't. So i didn't have to re write all the info on the files again.

Obviously i should have asked before i did this.

But it does not read the information. it still reads all the other files fine. Just not the ones i changed the names on in virtual dj.

Sorry i should have put that i changed the names of the files in virtual DJ rather than making it sound like i changed the files names specifically. Sorry that last post may have sounded rude. I meant i renamed them in virtual DJ and now they do not load any BPM info etc in virtual DJ on the second Hard Drive.

Ah you are right. I did rename the files not in Virtual DJ. Sorry me knee is stuffed i find it hard to figure some things out.
