Topic: VDJ 7 database issue

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

I installed VDJ7 on my backup PC overwriting VDJ6. I keep all of my audio & video files on external hard drives. After installing VDJ7, my BPMs, Cue Points, Genre (changed in VDJ), Last Played info, etc were no longer saved. The external drive letters are the same so I can still use my playlists. Version 7 has created a new .xml file on drive C:. After looking at the local database on my external drives, all of the info is still there. VDJ7 is not importing this info. Also when in Config -> Browser, in the area where you can choose a database to clean, fix, etc, I only have C:. Does anyone have a fix for this?

Here's a little background:
Main PC = Version 6 Win XP
Backup PC = Version 7 Win 7 64 bit (administrative user)

Tried copying the old C: database to the new PC
Tried deleting the new C: database
Tried editing the new database by adding the songs (including the .xml code for the songs) and leaving the non song info intact

I think that covers everything.

THE FIX...
For those that don't know, I'm a computer geek. I couldn't rest and let the computer beat me. So I stopped thinking logical and started thinking like Microsoft would. Here's the deal...Microsoft in their constant effort to protect us from the world and ourselves made things work a little different in Win7. In WinXP, if you were an administrator, you could, for the most part, do whatever you wanted anywhere. Your role as Administrator was enough. Win7 does it a little different. Not only do you have to be an administrator, you also have to make the program run as an administrator too. You would think that an administrator running a program would be sufficient, but I guess not.

Here's how I fixed it:
Make sure your login ID has administrative priveleges
Right click on virtualdj_pro.exe (located at C:\Program Files (x86)\VirtualDJ)
Choose "Properties"
Go to the "Compatibility" tab
Towards the bottom of the window select "Run this program as an administrator"
Hit "OK"

Now when you run the program you will be prompted with a message that asks if you would like to allow this program to make changes to your computer. Answer yes. If I figure out how to make this pop-up stop without putting your computer at risk from other programs, I'll let you know.
