Topic: Virtual DJ Home Version Installation fail?

ran the installer as i woud with any other programme but for some reason it keeps saying

'the installation failed the installer encoutered an error that caused the installation to fail. contact the software manufactor for assisstance'?

i installed it on my mates mac the other day no problem i dont know what seems to be the issue please help!

What kind of OS (10.5.x or 10.6.x) you are using?
 
OSX Version 10.6.5; It gets far along in the Installation and than says " There were errors in the installation. You may want to try installing again." "The Installation failed" and The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance." I cant seem to figure out how to fix this. Your help would be appreciated
 
 
I am still having the same problem; I searched virtual dj and atomix across my hard drive; is it possible I am missing a file to remove? When the install has an error the program still shows up in my applications; when it opens there is a pop up, "Invalid Skin file (Error line % in the xml)". Is this something I can get around? Thanks again for your assistance
 
Try this.

Please follow the following instructions completely - do not 'skip' anything just because you think you may have already done them before.

Use this utility to remove ALL versions of VirtualDJ installed -
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/appdelete.html

Then make sure you do the following - REPAIR your disk permissions (this may or may not be needed, but it doesn't hurt either way so just do it anyway) ::-> Go to: (HD)/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.

Launch Disk Utility, select your primary hard drive with Mac OS on it (start up disk) and click on the "Repair Disk Permissions" button. There's no need to click on the "Verify Disk Permissions" button right above it, just repair them.

Then reboot and install ONLY VirtualDJ PRO again. DO NOT RUN VirtualDJ until after the following steps.
After install, Go to the /Documents/ folder and Control+Click (right click) on the VirtualDJ folder
Choose the Get Info menu choice
Then in the bottom right corner of the Get Info dialog you need to click on the pad-lock and unlock it (will prompt you for you user password)

Then just above that to the left is the Permissions list. Make sure your user account has Read/Write permissions set.

Just below the Permissions box there is a button with a gear graphic on it - click that and choose the 'apply to all included' items

Once changed, close the box to Apply the changes.

Open VirtualDJ
 
Same story, the problem started when I was using the LE version with the skins error and that seems to be the problem again; Any other ideas on how to fit that?
 
I just deleted the DVD Rip part of the program, didn't realize they were connected! Worked right after that!
 
I have done all of the above and have since purchased the Pro Basic. I can send screen shots of how it looks but cant post them on the thread

Normaly you only must delete the "non" standard skins and then it work.
So maybe you use a skin, who is not build for the resolution you are using.

A complete fresh install of VDJ with deleting the Skin folder, fix in most cases this problem.

The exact same thing is happening to me ( install fails, then opening the app shows skin error ), and I have never used VDJ before. Could you elaborate on what you did here, please?

Normaly you only must delete the "non" standard skins and then it work.
So maybe you use a skin, who is not build for the resolution you are using.

I am getting this error, but I have never downloaded any custom skins - i have never even ran VDJ on my computer before! I tried changing my resolution but that didn't fix it (what resolution does the default skin require??)
 
Are you sure you have deleted VDJ complete?

Please try the following.

1. Go to the Finder/Programms and put the VirtualDJ Symbol into the trashcan
2. Go to Finder/User/Library/Preferences and delete all files with contains "com.atomixproductions.virtualdj.xx"
3. Go to Finder/Documentes and delete the folder VirtualDJ.
4. Delete the content of the trashcan.

Download again the Home Free Version and install it as the Admin.
Means it should be the same User like the User which you install the version.

Didn't work. I'll have to try some other stuff, the problem must be my computer. If anyone has any ideas, please help me out!
