Here's my question
I've got a HP that does not have a video output. It's an HP touchsmart.Can I extend the video using USB ? If so, how ?
When I use VDJ mixing with all videos even with 3 videos going in the prevew CPU maxes at 60%
Otherwise while videos are playing CPU shows 3% and lower.

None, the big HP touchscreen has a video out not not the smaller ones. Its a fast computer too. I bought it when I was only doing MP3 only. Then I found out VDJ does mp4 videos. If I knew I was going to be doing videos I would have bought the bigger one. .

What's stopping you from selling it and buying the bigger one...other than the hassle? You might end up saving yourself alot of headaches. There are vga outputs that you can buy like this one for example

but who knows if it will work without issue. I had one and it sorta worked but my advice would be just to get a new lappy with a dual output card. Make sure it has onboard/dedicated ram and don't go super expensive. Check the forum for the thread on "video freeze" and another thread created by Hippy Dog where users were listing their cards - pros and cons. If you decide to take my advice and get a new machine those threads will help you immensely.

I looked into the HP Touchsmart screens earlier this year with the intention to DJ with it. Unfortunately, the manufacturers don't expect you to want to output to an external screen when you already have a large screen. I looked at other manufacturers and they are all the same, some have video input but none had video output.
I also looked at external USB video cards, it's a none starter as they don't have the graphics capabilities. For instance, even if it's possible to get video output, you wouldn't be able to use the video transitions, the video output would be very basic due to the USB bus unable to cope with the performance required. I'm sure quality would be questionable too.
