I have pair of 5500 and have yet to get it to work in midi. Thought i would give it a try with 7.0 which rocks with the denon 4500.
Have read the forum and made the adjustments in setup and using the lastest firm on the 5500's. I am using a PC with vista pro. Note the spinning platter is not a big deal to me i am not a scratch dj but want to use the decks for midi control of VDJ.
before trying to work a pair i tried to setup vdj with just one 5500 using the layers. Here are my issues:
1. when the platter is on in spinning mode and i press the play button there is a lag to the start button as the platter turns on. I can remedy this by turning the platter on.
2. When i try to use the 2nd layer with the platter on the speend seems wrong and sounds like chimpunks. When i turn off the platter the cue point seems to move. When in pause the song randomly plays for a few sec moving forward each time. I can see this on the pc screen yet nothing is being touched on the 5500.
Any help here would be great.

Have the same problem. I've asked the support (a "ticket") and I'm waiting for an answer.

Hey man, I used to own a pair of DN-HS5500 (My favorite Denon decks till this day) and I got them to work with VDJ 6, I remember there were some problems with the first version of VDJ6 not working right with the DN-HS5500s but it was fixed in later releases.
I do see one problem in your setup, you are using Windows Vista Pro and this was a problem for me.
It was suggested to me by another forum member to change to windows XP and it did the trick.
I remember us having a few threads on the forum about this, try using the search function to dig up the old threads.
