Hi everyone,

I have nothing but good things to say about VDJ 6 however,
after reading a few threads I think I'm going to wait a couple of more weeks before
downloading VDJ 7...

Don't take this the wrong way, like I said, VDJ 6 works great and
since I'm new here and just started to feel better about using VDJ 6 at gigs
I don't want to start all over again leaning what I need to adjust and watch to get the best out of VDJ 7...

In the next few weeks I will continue to read all I can to ensure that when I upgrade I'll know what all I need to adjust...

Both of my laptops are old and both are running Windons XP...
One has 512 ram while my newer one has 1 gb of ram...
Now the only laptop running VDJ 6 is the newer one...
I mostly do wedding and while playing videos are very cool I don't use that feature...
Lastly, I use no try of control other than a mouse and keyboard...

If someone feels that VDJ 7 would be to much for this laptop please save me the headship and let know that you think...

Xmas is just a couple of weeks away for me now but I hope I can be playing around with VDJ 7 sooner...

Thanks for stopping by and read my thread...

It's worth mentioning that when you download 7, you will still have 6 on your pc. It doesn't overwrite it. Worth downloading it and trialing it

To be honest, well...for me at least, VDJ 7 has been working WONDERFULLY. It's only small problems here and there. I would say that if you only broadcast or record, then don't download it. Other than that, it's perfectly fine. Again, that's just for me.

My gig machine is far from the fastest in the world, I also have the video turned off and if anything version 7 is much better performance wise. Just make sure you double check all your settings after you install.

Thanks Guys...

I didn't know that about the download...

Since I read others asking how they can get VDJ # back I thought that VDJ 7 over wrote VDJ 6...

Hell, knowing that now "I can have my cake and eat it too"... :)

Once I know I have enough room on my 120 gb hard drive (newer 2005 Dell) laptop...

I will download tonight...

Xmas is just a few hours away... :)

I will let you all know what, if anything, I find...

Thanks again for all your inputs...!!!

You will love it.

Videos are more slow to load, but audio - even with a cheap consumer 5.1 USB device, works well.

And NO snippet. :)

Probably depends on specs - personally my videos load at least 2 times (if not more) faster than with VDJ6.

I would recommend you take a backup copy of your docs/virtualdj folder and put it somewhere safe before you install - just in case. I had no issues but some people have reported database problems with dropping cue points, etc. Pays to have a backup anyway - could save you having to re enter cue points, bpms, mapper changes, etc one day.

I used to see my cpu go thru the roof with v6 and video, only just tried v7 and seems a lot better, even in 4deck mode, hows that possible? Shame I have no hdmi out, could be tempted to give some live video mixing a go.

Sounds like something good do...

Do you know of a step by step for installing VDJ 7...

Has someone put something together which clearly notes step (like the one noted above)
that you may (or should) to protect your cue and what have you...???

*****
My first step last night was to delete music files from my laptop...
Since I have all my music on external hard drives now I thought it would be better to clearup before install VDJ 7...

I was going to download tonight but a few jobs just came up for this weekend... :(
Xmas is on hold until next week (I hope)...
I do most of my gigs from the old laptop and software but
once you gone VDJ 6 it is very hard not to have it around... :)

You don't need to do anything - you can just install VDJ 7 and it's ready to go. They have different shortcuts, to run the relevant version just run the relevant shortcut. VDJ7 installs a shortcut as "Virtual DJ Pro".
