I opened a ticket as well, but I was wondering if any of you other users out there have experienced this problem. (I'm not sure if it's the same as the hiccup problem)
Last night, about 2 hours in to my gig (busy night, with a full dance floor as per murphy's law), my songs started skipping horribly. Any video I would play did this (ones that I know are perfect files that do not skip normally), and I even noticed some distortion in the video a couple times but the one MP3 I tried seemed to make it through ok.
I switched to the house music for a couple mins, rebooted, swapped external hard drive cables, unplugged my Hercules RMX, and pulled up my back up program (swift elite 4, just in case it was my Hercules RMX that was causing the problem) and it worked fine. This is the second time I've had this identical problem with 2 completely different laptops and completely different External Hard drives.
Which of the following would be more common in your opinion (I have a big private party this friday that I would really like to be able to rely on VDJ for)
Is my Hard Drive going bad? (I thought this was the case last time this happened)
Could my Hercules be screwing up somehow to cause this? (I use it in dual output mode, 2 to my mixer and the headphone out)
Are my USB cables going bad?
Also, a couple weeks ago I set my MAX LOAD to always. Could this be part of the problem?
Thanks for your help

The behavior you're describing is most likely due to CPU stressing and the ASIO can't keep up...
Try to remember if this issue happened about the same time of the day (not the same duration on your gig).
Then try to pin-point what might be causing CPU stressing. Do you have an anti-virus running ? Do you have Windows Updates set to "Automatic" ? e.t.c. Several anti-virus programs will try to do a system scan late in the night believing that nobody uses the computer. Others will try to update e.t.c...
Pleaseeport back and also tell us what OS you're using...

Thanks for your reply,
I'm using a clean windows 7 with no wifi/firewall/AV, and I can't really see it being a CPU issue as the CPU never really runs higher than 15% (Its a 2.4 GHz i5, plus it has a 1GB Dedicated ATI video card). I can say with total confidence that no background programs are running, and that nothing is trying to run at a certain time of night. I gig with this PC 6 nights a week, but I only use VDJ and the Hercules 1 of those nights and that is the only night I have ever had this problem.
The only thing that stands out to me is that it only seems to happen on mix intensive nights. After this problem last time I loaded a play list at my house and let the computer run for like 8 hours on automix, it worked fine. Both nights where the problem occurred happened to be busier nights where I'm mixing from the get go.
Well, I hope somebody can pin point something for me, I'm gonna go try the troubleshooting that was recommended in my support ticket.

I just realized as I posted that message that when I ran my automix for 8 hours I wasn't using the Hercules, I had just opened the program. For some reason in my head I had eliminated the RMX from the troubleshooting process. I'm gonna see if I can get it to skip after a bit with the automix on.
