Topic: vms4 vms 4 just a few ?

searching not much in eng came up about the vms4 midi mixer anyone know if it plays timecode without the serato box ? the only answer i found on hear or google was a half answer. the ? can you play time vinyl and the answer was yes but you need the serato box or tractorcontrol pro but not mention about with vdj
and has anyone found a really solid review on this product or even anything i should really know about!

i used it a little at the DJXPO in atlantic city....

this was pretty neat actually .....

there was a table at the VDJ booth with the beta for v7.0 running six decks on

3 controllers...... and the world could just come up and try it out ...

the 2nd controller in the middle was the VMS4 ......

it is actually MIDI and analogue .....

it is a controller with many features and if the computer crashes it can be a backup device because

it excepts external analogue inputs as well and i think it has balanced outs ??


it's great that it already has native support and that so many new devices do also
 
Yes it will play TCV without an external box but only if you use Virtual DJ.

I have one and I would say hold of on it for a while, there seems to be some problems with it that a lot of people are experiencing.
The controller looks well built, looks and feels very good but there might need to be a few more firmware updates on the unit before everything is working great.
 
I love this controller and think it is Ideal for my DJ service company. However I did have to return it to the dealer due to two problems.

1. Distorted mic signal.

I tried a wide range of mics, mic cables, vocal processors and the sound from the mic was distorted with every aplication. I run a karaoke show as well and I need my mics to sound as good as possible.

2. The XLR outputs had only 1/8 the power output of the master RCA and Booth, and for what ever reason, I had more volume to my right chanel than my left.

I would prefer to use the XLR outputs to my amp or active speaker not the RCAs with a XLR adapter.

I had huge hopes for the VMS4 and still think these issues can be fixed but these are not issues that can be fixed with a update. So back it went.

I would still be interested in re-buying the VMS4 if these issues are addressed in a VMS4 V2.

I just don't know if I should wait on the fix or get a RMX?
 
I have the same problems as you, the balanced output is not at Pro levels. Tonight I used my VMS4 slaves off of a DJM-600. Even with VMS4 peaking at +r and the channel gain turned to max on the DJM, I couldn't get the VU's to even come close to the red. Even when the VMS4 manual clearly states that the EVA outputs are to hot to slave to a mixer...

I also have the mic issue!

Luckily I still have my RMX ;-)

GadgetMan thank you !!! and yeah ill hold off by the sounds of it have to use my bcd3000 till i find something that is 4 times the price and still no good to me bcd can put out lots of sound tho !. this is the reson i love getting facts right from people who own the units. i looked at one in a the store hear and the guy tryed hypeing it up sooo much right after i had read your post and i pointed the things you mentioned out to me and he was clueless as to what i was even talking about
 
my vms4 is great. firmware updated and my mics are fine...
