Topic: can't install RMX on vista

由于该帖子已年深日久,可能包含陈旧过时或描述错误的信息。

i installed my RMX on my W7 lappy

now trying to install on my vista desktop ......

i use the new drivers from the Hercules website and run as administrator

when i connect RMX i plug in directly (no hub) to a usb port on the back of the tower

won't work .....

the icon has an x thru it

under mappers it's not listed .....

in sound setup asio drivers it's not in the drop down

oddly the soundcard works just not the midi ....

if i use 3 lines mixer and 2 soundcards i can preview trax using the realtek system audio card

and play the mix in the decks ??? but no midi ...

this is Vista home prem 64 bit and uac is turned off

try cleaning out old drivers, install from disc, then go to site for updates.

Tayla
Installing from the disc is going to install the same drivers you just said to remove.
The driver package has an uninstall utility already there.

Its important that you start this process with the console unplugged Kirk.

thanks gents.....

i did start with it unplugged and Rick is right just use the updated drivers and run as admin

which i did, with it unplugged which i did ......????

it's not installing the midi ......??

my uac is turned off .....

insert Chevy Chase rant from Christmas Vacation .......

http://www.heygaston.com/chevy-chases-rant-in-christmas-vacation/

Try this
With it plugged in, go to device manager and find it, then right click and uninstall.
Unplug RMX, then reboot.
Run the install once again in the same order by the book.

thanks Rick ......will do

since this involves rebooting vista , i'll just catch a power nap

and report back in an hour .....

what about the windows pop ups? ignore ??

they keep popping up windows has detected a device and wants to install the drivers

if you play along and browse to the drivers (on my desktop) then it says it can't

find the device drivers ??????

tried the above no luck .....

in device manager in the hidden devices is a non pnp driver called SRTSPX which is stopped

and can't be turned on ??

i did that .....(line 3 of the original post)

there tech support got back to me by email this morning and i am gonna try all the new things

they suggested .IF that works i will report back , it might be useful to others who are using vista

64 bit.

this vista is my main system it does video 99.9% perfect plus i have the FireText SMS license on it

and it does text message to screen via bluetooth, it's unusual and actually a very good system

if you read my post you would know i started with the correct drivers and i ran the install as admin with the AV

turned off ....so i really don't need to be told the commonly known procedures

i already have the RMX running on my W7 laptop

later today i will try to get the RMX running on my w7 desktop (i have 4 systems 1 XP , 1 Vista , 2 W7 ) ALL

of these systems run audio and video very well/excellent and one does FireText also

if you take that download latest driver off the title i would appreciate it .......

makes it look solved , when it isn't......

Don't take things the wrong way.

I was pointing out the Hercules installation procedure because you were asking about interacting with the new hardware found Pop-up, for which they strongly advise not to do anything and let the process run by itself beside a few specific steps...

no worries ....

Hercules tech support said to do these things ....

uninstall .....

turn off windows pwr mgmt on all usb root hub titles

(they were already off) i did that when i first got it...but i checked to make sure

run there CCleaner and clean up temp files etc and registry

turn off anti virus ...unless you have Alwil or Zone Alarm , in which case uninstall them

i have Alwil , so i un installed it ....

unplug all possible usb devices

run all windows updates

turn off windows firewall (it's always off , but i checked anyways)

curse a mighty curse , reboot , run as admin the new drivers from there website

and still no luck ......i purposely did NOT do the windows updates but only for fear of

windows updates, if ya know what i mean .....

at the moment it looks like the only thing i can do is set a restore point and take my chances

running the windows updates and then try again .....

it looked to me like the windows popups were pausing the install until you answered them ......??

So what exactly during the installation process seems to fail ?

Any error messages or the like ?

when it attempts to install bulk drivers , asio drivers and midi drivers , each time the blasted

windows security pop up appears and either the install is REALLY slow on Vista , OR

the windows pop ups are pausing the install so much that it seems like it has stopped

until you "interact" with it .....

i gotcher interaction right here ......

well i ran the hideous windows updates and it didn't wreck my video or FireText.....

so next, run there scenario exactly according to the book and no responding to the

windows pop ups and see if that works......

then set another restore point and reinstall Alwil .....

good thing?? i'm not working til tomorrow ....

hey Phatso , you 'n SkyFxl need to leave some controllers for the rest of us.....holy mackerel

for 12 minutes nothing happened ....

on screen and in the performance tab (Knight Rider screen) in task mgr......

it won't install unless you let windows pop ups run and then it still doesn't work

uuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhh.....

bad DJ....,BAD DJ!

i didn't remove the usb dongle ........

didn't think of it or notice it .......

the install finally worked .......

when they say remove all usb devices , they ain't kiddin' around ....

anyway , happy dance time ......

Damien at there tech support hooked me up and should be

Employee of The Month .....
