Ok I have a slight problem while running my RMX at a certain bar. I can use my setup ANYWHERE else and not have any issues, but when I play at this particular bar .... for some odd reason my RMX just goes blank and stops working a couple times a night. I can unplug and replug to get it working again, but this happens EVERY time I DJ at this particular bar and its the ONLY place that this happens. Does anyone have any ideas on how this can happen ?? I'm thinking maybe there is a short somewhere in their equipment or I need to possibly ground the RMX ?? I was starting to think my rmx was going bad, but I can use it anywhere else without any issues. I also have an old MK2 and can use it there with no problems. I just hate using it cause it doesnt do everything the RMX does and it looks like a toy. Any ideas anyone ??

My guess is
Faulty wires @ the venue (Assuming they supply them to you?)
I also was thinking it could quite possibly be a magnetic fied, and for what ever reason, it affects the RMX. Perhaps becuase its a metal case on it?
Have you ever thought it was a ghost playing tricks on you?

As far as wiring, for all the computer, RMX, external HD's (3 of them) and rca from the RMX into THEIR mixer are all my cables. All other connections are theirs. I was kinda thinking the same thing about the magnetic fied cause of the metal casing cause like I said, my MK2 works just fine there. I wonder if grounding the RMX will fix the problem ?? They have a wooden platform they built to set my equipment on and they have 2 amps, a mixer, equalizer, desktop computer, antique light controller (lol) inside the platform, and a ton of wiring inside, around and underneath the platform.
That's funny about the ghost Danny ... lol. I DJ on Fridays and another DJ is there on Saturdays. I think the other DJ has cursed me and sent a demon after me cause most of his crowd is coming to Friday nights cause they said he can't throw it down like I do ...lol. Jealousy is a bitch ;)

Try and pick up another mains socket if you can, I've had problems in the past with the DJ booth been wired into the same circuit as the beer pumps or the coolers, everytime they kicked in used to get all these clicks and pops on the speakers, may be a similar problem.

Hey there 1BadAssDJ there was a thread a long time ago about this, is there a rug at the place because it seems that the Rmx has a static electricity issue. Hope this helps.

Good call on the mains socket, i never though of that.
My guess is the metal casing is attracting un wanted attention. Run a copper wire from the back of the RMX, the ground tab and run it to like the table leg or somewhere and try it.
I'm pritty sure its to do with electronic interference.

There is carpet on the stage and that crossed my mind, but I have worked on carpet before with no problem. Plus I don't get any static shock when I touch the RMX and sometimes it goes out without even touching it. I'm still thinking about taking in a rubber mat and place it in there just in case ...lol. Thanks for your help bro.

Thanks Tayla. I'll check into that. I have no idea if it is or not but thanks for the tip. It never crossed my mind, but with this bar .... it wouldn't surprise me ...lol. Thanks again

I think you're right with the casing attracting unwanted attention Danny. I'm gonna try a rubber mat AND ground it out somehow. The table is made of wood so finding something to ground to may be a chore ...lol.
Great idea's everyone !! Thank you all for your help and I'll let ya know what happens and what works ...lol.
VDJ ROCKS !!

Hi all I have just had a funny senario at a gig with my RMX locking up... bear with me while I explain, now now this happened twice tonight so I can disspell it being coincidental. I bought a cheap mini smoke machine, the type where the remote is wired and has mains voltage. When I pressed the button, I heard a popCrackle over my speaker (interference/spike on the mains) caused by the switch in the remote. At the same time my RMX locked up and I had to restart Virtual DJ to get things working. Now both the some machine and lights were plugged into athe same double socket. I suspect the RMX is very prone to mains interference and I'm considering running the PC via a filtered supply for my next job to prevent this mid-set. This has happened to me in the past and thinking about it it could well be because of this. I would have expected the computer PSU to have filtered out any spikes. However my RMX is fitted in a rack case with my other equipment, so it may be that things are interfering through those.
In fact I run straight from the RMX to my active speaakers, so they may have to be put on 13a Sockets with filters as well!!
?????? We Will see!....
