Hey Guys
I want to get the EFX 1000 so i can have better effects than the ones included with VDJ i was gonna make the transition to traktor since i know this software well but i decided to stay :)
im not sure how this will work with my set up,
(CDJ400, DDM4000, CDJ400)
not sure how the set up will work :/ im not even sure how to formulate the right questions.
Q:
1. do i just connect it to one of the channels of my mixer or VDJ?
i guess more general how can i integrate an external effector with my VDJ set up.

The good news is that you can use an external effect-processor like EFX-500/1000...but the bad news is that you can't reach the full potential. The problem is your mixer, since it doesn't have EFX send/return connections.
The only way to use the EFX-unit is to connect it between your mixer's master-out and amplifier/speakers. This way you can not pre-listen the effects on your headphones or record the processed audio output.

i also have a djm600 at home that i was going to sell... and that mixer has EFX send/return.
how would this work

You'll need two pairs of audio cables with 1/4" jack connectors. Connect "Send" in DJM-600 to "Input" in EFX-500, then connect "Return" in DJM-600 to "Output" in EFX-500. Switch the effect-knob in DJM-600 to "SND/RTN" position.
It's worth pointing out, that DJM-600 also has a built-in EFX-unit, which is comparable to EFX-500.

If you want better FX than the ones included with VDJ, simply use VST plugins.
That's the whole idea behind the VDJ effects section supporting VST plugins - so that you can expand on
the basic ones that are included.
So many people don't seem to realise that you can add to the FX by using VST plugins.
It doesn't help that it's not mentioned in the manual!
(an upgrade to VDJ Pro will cost much less than an EFX1000)
