Hey there guys i was wondering if you can help me with this i am doing an indoor pool party in a few weeks i went to check the place out to see where i will be setting up, i walked in and it was extremly humid... Would it be wise to bring my equipment in such a humid enviroment? Any feedbakck would be great thanks...

I had a gig last week, my CDJ-1000 was over a smoke machine and after some hours it broke down..it swiched off and not sign of working. I had to ask my friend to lend his CDJ-400.

My suggest is to pay attention where you install your equipment.

If it causes your equipment to get moist then it's not good. most DJ equipment can deal with heat and cold (to a certain degree)
but there's allot of moisture in the air be carefull, maybe some fans near the equipment will keep it dry. Setup as far away from the pool as possible..

I agree with haz0rd, some fans, big fans, might help keep the moisture from condensating on your gear.

Same as if you keep your equipment in the van over night, after your gig when you get home, in winter say. sometimes when you first turn it on it doesn't work but after half an hour it kicks in. Not the best really but then this was only really with CD players.

I know gear rust's when left in van with been soaking wet through from duew, I know a guy that leaves his gear in 24/7 and his lights after a few years are rusty to the point that theres no paint left on them.

the main difference is that in the van the equipments are not plugged...

I used to find if I took my gear from a cold car in to a hot venue everything would be covered in condensation. Sometimes the amps wouldn't fire up but once acclimatised they were fine.

May be better to set up your gear a couple of hours before.

It's a bit like taking a camera from the cold in to a humid atmosphere and the lens steaming up!

Its simple really, Water and Electronics don't mix!!

I'm thinking an extra rider on the contract for damages due to "hazardous environment for electronic equipment" would be a good idea. that or take out an insurance policy that would cover everything against damages due to moisture/humidity.

True but somethings like condensation can sometimes hit you without warning.. I store my equipment in the garage which can get cold or very hot here in Texas.. The heat not so worried about, it's in the shade and don't really worrying about things melting. We get a few days... (litterally just a few days) where it gets cold and if your gigging that same day. if you bring inside the club you will notice the outside of your equipment being moist and it has had no contact with water... I put all my amps in gator cases that helps prevent moisture from entering. I have the sleeves for my powered speakers and the subs are unpowered so I don't worry about them as much.

it depends on how much condensation you think might get inside the equipment.. If their isnt too much temperature difference between the outside temp and inside temp you should be ok.. if their is a big difference, you might want to ask the venue if you can put your equipment in a storage room the day before so it can get warmed up..

once in a blue moon probably want kill it.. but if they want you back next time, i would charge accordingly for the extra wear n tear on your equipment..
