Topic: Ideal gain setting for MP3's during the encoding?

We know MP3 gain likes to use 89% for it's setting since MP3s can clip if higher than 89%.

What do you guys (gals) set your MP3s to?

My plan is this: Rip from CD and force normalize to 98% FLAC. Then when encode to mp3, use ReplayGain setting to 89%.

Now in VDJ, it is set to Auto-Remember.

My question here is would VDJ apply/remove gain just enough to inhibit clipping?

If so, what should I set my MP3s to during the encode?

When VDJ supports FLAC tags, then I will go all FLAC.
