I have, well am waiting for it to come back, the RMX. I went through the Neumark Total Control & the Hurcules MP3 2 and realize that from a price and technical point of view the RMX is perfect, at least for me. It is good for home and in the field.

First thing of importance is the price. It is only $350 which is a very mid range low price for what you get. Looks at some of the ones that are $700-$1000, it's rediculous. So this is a good professional looking starter.

Second, the thing has a sound card for playback which is totally critical. No adding or going out to buy anything else to make things work.

Other things that are good about it is the look, the heftiness, it isn't a plastic piece that looks like a toy. It looks cool & sleek, plus the blue likes are awesome. You can hook it up directly to an amp or powered speakers also.

Turntables or CDplayers can hook directly into it or you can use the cogwheels.

I would suggest it all day.

Now the only con I find is the microphone, you would think for two micrphone jacks it would just work just like that. it is an issue but I have found ways to get around it.

Don't pass it up.

Thanks for the reply after reading that oi dont know how i could pass it up!!! so its just laptop into the controller then the controller into amp and speakers???

Done deal!

Thanks man:)

hi babe. i've got an RMX too and i love it... Apart from the everso slightly glitchy sound when mixing but think this is a laptop issue rather than an RMX issue...

I've been playing on the radio and at a few club nights and apart from the odd slight jump it works fine. nice and responsive and the effects are brilliant.

Got a few sniffy reactions from CD DJ's but i dont take too much notice ov them (as they chose to move to CD's from records, to embrace new technology, like i have)

The audio levels are lower than CDJ's when playing in clubs but thats what the gain knob on the mixer is for anyway... oh and the inbuilt Mic is rubbish!!! but i don't care as i don't talk if at all possible!!!

I have just recently got some CDJ's and i still prefer to use the RMX... nuff said.

Hope that helps some.

have you got one yet?

where in Eire are you? My mum came from the North-East in Antrim.

nope not yet but seriously considering it!! down south kerry prob wouldnt knw it:)

For the money the Hercules is def worth it. It has everything all in one for the most part and its pretty cool now that im getting a pair of dn-s1200's and i can use the herc as a mixer and to scroll through my music on my pc. Just wondering, HAS ANYONE USED THEIR HERC AS A MIXER WITH OTHER DEVICES SUCH AS MIDI/CD/MP3'S????

The RMX all the way...

Yes. Use the 1/4" outputs 1&2 to hook to a pro grade amp. They have a higher output than the RCA connectors.

Yes and no:

Yes - as it the crossfader will mix between VDJ decks and allows for exetrnal inputs for CD players/Turntables (especially good if you intend to use timecodes).

No - as you loose control of the RMX if you close the software - it is not a standalone mixer! Therefore anything on the external inputs also disappears.

The RMX has a soundcard built in. The Steel doesn't. The soundcard is good for audio, crap for Mic. For the price the addition of a Behringer Xenyx mixer will sit nicely betwen your amp and the RMX, give you a little more control over the RMX volume, allow you to hook in a mic and an additional device for backup.
