Gang -
I am using a DAC-3 and whenever loading a track, the left slider changes the pitch but when load a track on the right, I need to really slide it for it to change. And sometimes the resulting pitch is off from what the scanned value is even at mid point.
I have not changed controllers yet.
Thanks gang!

This is a safety feature common to all external MIDI controllers.
Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/homepage/jpboggis/blogs/4161/Pitch_slider_on_external_MIDI_controller_does_not_always_work.html
If it is not this, then the pitch slider may be faulty.

Thanks bro. I might have a flaky controller. Once I rebuilt (replaced micro switches) seems to behave. But DISABLE pitch match on load is not good for me b/c it will force the new track to take on the % or BPM of the prev setting or track - not good for wedding events, but would could be useful for dance sets.
BTW, could a flaky controller like described cause grief w/ a USB sound device and cause distortion?

I noticed after a while with my DAC 3 that whenever i loaded a song the BPM's noted on the little blue screen were down by some -0.7 or so. I had to CP+pitch slide back to normal.
Dunno if this is of any news to anyone.
Also...i recently cleaned mine using electrical contact cleaner (bought from Halfords for a fiver) and an hour or so of time. One or two of the buttons are still a tiny bit sticky but overall everything now seems to be ok.
Cleaning it takes a bit of time and care...and be careful when taking it apart...if you can help it, don't take off the jog wheels. Take it apart from the bottom up and give all the contacts a good seeing to with the spray.

If you have pitch match on load enabled, then you will not be able to adjust pitch with the slider until you move it to the correct position (As shown on the VirtualDJ skin.) If you are loading songs with different BPM, then you will have to do this for every track if you wish to be able to manually adjust using the slider.
You could turn this safety feature off by changing the mapping to pitch instead of pitch_slider but I would not recommend this unless you have key lock turned on - If you accidentally bump (Or forget and purposely move) the slider, then this would result in a sudden and very audible (Depending on the difference) jump in pitch.
Alternatively you could map it to pitch_relative - This will adjust the software slider relatively to your movements with the hardware slider.
The USB sound device is probably unrelated unless you are running both through the same USB hub (I.e: There may not be enough bandwidth for both devices.) If both are going into separate ports, then the distortion is either a setup/configuration issue, driver issue (If the sound card has its own drivers) or some other performance issue (See http://www.virtualdj.com/homepage/jpboggis/blogs/4094/Common_performance_issues_and_solutions.html for causes of common performance issues and their solution.)

It was in fact the DAC-3. Swapped w/ a new one and issue went away. The former, when launched VDJ, the slider on the left side jumps up by almost 1/8 or so.
That said, I hope it can either be repaired (calibrated) by me or just have for emergency spare.

The slider is either faulty or may be damaged.
