Is this possible? Do I have to convert to mp3+G?
I'm just now adding Karaoke to my kids parties.
I tried playing directly from my PC but VDJ didn't recognize it.
Thanks,
Jay

Yes you have to rip em with a converter, but once done they play fine on VDJ.

Yes, if they are MP3+G format they can be played. If you put them into a ZIP file, make sure that you use standard compression. Also make sure that all files are named exactly the same, e.g:
ABBA - Dancing Queen.zip
|- ABBA - Dancing Queen.mp3
`- ABBA - Dancing Queen.cdg
ABBA - Dancing Queen.zip
|- ABBA - Dancing Queen.mp3
`- ABBA - Dancing Queen.cdg

I have done a series of videos on YouTube about how to rip CD+Gs which can be found in a discussion here on the VDJ Music forum...

CD+Gs can be ripped with Audiograbber, which is free software (http://www.audiograbber.org/), but the problem is that not that many CD drives out there actually support reading the CD+G graphics subcode channel data!
I wonder though, if that situation has improved over the last few years since I've ripped a CD+G.

I also have a plextor PX-716UF for CDG, but there is a program that I use that can rip, read and write CDG files from a standard internal DVD drive.
Here is the link to Microstudio http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/microstudio.htm
Good Luck

Just about all new drives released in the last few years will work. I have 7 different computers, one of them a 2005 model and I have ripped CD+Gs from all of them... well, except my MacBook Pro, I haven't tried that yet on it but it would likely work...

I use Power CD+G Burner from www.powerkaraoke.com.
Works a treat for me. The program lets you burn, rip, copy and convert...great if you're looking to create a set of back up discs and what have you.
