ok so i managed to get the record video feature working, worked great :)

along came 6.1 and an divx update and now i can record but the video quality is very very low, uninstalled divx and reinstalled still the same.

anyone want to take a stab at this?

yeah, having same issue - anything past a 320x240 resolution comes out grainy like an old vcr recording. any takers?
 
if i wanted to reccord my set including videos as you mentioned above would i need something like divx first or what?
 
What is the size of the window your recording from?
 
okay... did some experimenting. using ffdshow codec and by making output window bigger i kinda figured out that output window size is what its gonna be recorded at? kinda weird but okay. i would have thought that you could tell it to record for any size output settings like 16x9 widescreen or 720x480 and let it go.
 
i downloaded the codecs from divx.com and have set the codec to divx. as soon as i load a video the screen pops up, i can record but at very low quality. If i increase the size of the window i get a codec error...

this after i updated vdj and divx...
 
for some codecs (at least the ones I have tried).
The size of the window has to match the resolution chosen for recording..

IE: if you set divx to record at 720X480, then the window (or screen) has to be 720X480

(or at least thats what I have found)
 
 
tried your tutorial and nothing, W7 64bit doesnt give me the option to choose a codec other than Microsoft RLE, Microsoft Video 1, Intel Iyuv Codec, Intel Iyuv Codec, Full Frames UNcompresed...... tried every posible combination, installed divx and nothing, uninstalled it and installed xivd and nothing...

Would be nice if someone further up from the dev team would come out and explain how this is supposed to work, or perhaps they can bundle all necessary codecs & encoders so that when you install the program IT WORKS! this is very frustrating disappointing.......
 
just tried ffdshow and still nothing....

What good are these great features (concepts) if they dont work.......

Some higher being please explain the procedure......
 
There has been a lot of discussions on video recording. Some people have success and others don't (using the same codecs). I have given up and started using HyperCam. You can get it at http://download.cnet.com/HyperCam/3010-13633_4-11427149.html?tag=mncol. It looks like the new version is shareware. The one I downloaded was free. Try it. Send me a PM if you have questions.

Tell you what...Skip the middle man (unless you want to look at the reviews). This is the website to get HyperCam directly (http://www.hyperionics.com/?AfID=CDN). The website says "HyperCam v.2 may be downloaded here for free for world-wide use."
 


they need a warning on the hypercam site - "will install bloatware even if you check the boxes telling it not to do it."

still trying to uninstall it completely.
