Hey guys. Its time for me to get a new laptop. I was quite bent on getting a macbook but then I read that virtualdj doesnt run as good on a mac as does on a normal windows laptop. Especially when we talk about effects etc, many effects arent available for the mac version. I'm not a very heave effects user to be honest. But I do appreciate a few of them like LFOs, flangers, beatgrid, brake. Do like throwing them in my mix now and then. Just want to know what you guys think about running VDJ on a mac. Are there any other problems you guys face? Would it be advisable to make a partition on my mac and run VDJ on windows?
Also, are the mapping files for controllers the same? I wrote my own mapper and definition file for my imix reload mk II controller. Could I simply just copy the same mapper and definition over to the mac and have it work just as well? Or is there a difference in the scripting? Thanks in advance for your responses. Cheers!

If you get a Mac I would try a different program then Virtual DJ. I have had nothing but problems that I don't think I would have had if I used Windows. Deckadance works really nice though.

I am using the newest mac book pro with a XOne 22 mixer,2 numark TTXs and a DeeJay trim.
I can never get a full 100% quality and it drops all the time. I can't record any mixes either. It has just been a major pain all around and I can't find any help from anyone on here either.
The Macbook in general is amazing I love it and I was a longtime PC user. It just doesn't work well with Virtual DJ...at all. You might have better luck using a controller though idk.

There are a few little bugs in the mac version, it's not as "complete" as the Windows version.
I think skin tooltips are not displayed, bitrate is not updated in the database after scan, random crash on column movements but they are all niggly things that should hopefully get sorted in the next big update.
I also have intermittent problems with video playback but as I DJ audio only it's not an urgent issue. Seems others use the Mac version for video with no problems at all.
In other words the mac version is fine for me, been using it in the club for about 3 months and it's great!

Hi sonance, been long time bro;)
I'm using the mac version on MacBooks all along since version 4.3 (when it started) and all I can say it getting better and stable with each release;)
The mac version is relatively new that the windows version, hence there still room for improvement.
About plugins effects as such, it is up for the author of the plugins to port it from the window platform to the mac platform which is not as easy as it seem. But maybe in the future there be more plugins for mac;)
Regards;)

Hey Spinna, thanks mate. Hope uve been doing good too.
Im using an iMix reload MkII controller. I created the definition and mapping files myself. If i transfer them to a macbook will they work just as fine or will i need to re-create the definition file again? I'm also intending to get american audio's VMS4 in july. I trust that controller will be natively supported by VDJ right?
